Fret not, because, in each step, we will go into intricate information on how to do it.

Step #1: Download Videos and Other Data

The very first step that the original owner (you) needs to do is to download videos that need to be kept.

This could include videos/images that contain sensitive data.

You can do this in one (1) of two (2) ways.

First, you can download individual videos one at a time from the Ring Mobile App. It’s pretty straightforward, you just need to access the app, go to the videos section and proceed to the download.

The Second, however, won’t deal with the app. Instead, it’ll involve downloading more than one at a time; and this is by doing it in the web-based version of the app – Ring.com.

NOTE: Ensure that you’re aware of what your credentials are to avoid delays.

Step #2: Remove Other Users

Then, what you want to do next is to remove secondary users that have access to the Ring Doorbell.

NOTE: Only the owner of the doorbell (the person who initially set it up) can do this.

Here’s the procedure of how it’s done:

  1. From the Ring app, select the Ring doorbell from the main Dashboard.
  2. On the right-hand side of the device, tap the three dots.
  3. select “Settings.
  4. Select “Users.
  5. You should see “Shared User Profile.
  6. Select “Remove User.

Do this for each secondary user you have added to the Doorbell, so they’re removed indefinitely.

Step #3: Remove Payment Information

  1. Log into your account.
  2. On the left-hand side, find your Ring Protect Basic plan.
  3. Select “Cancel Plan.”
  4. You will be prompted to give a reason for cancellation.
  5. Choose to cancel now or at the end of your billing cycle.
  6. Confirm the cancelation.

Follow these steps to cancel individual devices on a Ring Protect Plus or a Ring Protect Pro plan.

  1. Open the Ring app.
  2. Find the three dots in the left-hand corner.

  4. Select the Ring device you want to be transferred to a new owner.

  6. Select “General Settings.”
  7. Lastly, select “Remove This Device.

At this point, you no longer have ownership or access to the doorbell. Any Ring device that you have removed ownership from should no longer have access to your WiFi network.

Lastly, you want to perform a factory reset of the surveillance device. This is so you’re sure that everything you’ve had that is connected to it is removed from the account.

  2. Once removed, press + hold Reset on the right side of the device for 15 seconds.
