How to make Ring Doorbell louder? You want to hear it at all times, and we will help you!
The Ring Doorbell is great because it has a video functionality that allows you to monitor the surroundings. However, sometimes you might notice that the volume is not too loud.
To make the Ring Doorbell louder, you can use the app to adjust the settings. Alternatively, you may utilize voice assistants or enhance efficiency by adjusting the ring tone or adding a Ring Chime.
Let’s see all the options you have!
How To Make Ring Doorbell Louder – 7 Reliable Methods
1. Adjust The Volume On The App
How to make the Doorbell Ring louder? The most basic way of making your Ring Doorbell louder is by adjusting it through the app.
The app is very basic since it is through it that you have set up the equipment.
Then, if you feel that a bit more volume is needed, do this:
- Open the app;
- Tap the three lines;
- Select “Devices”;
- Find the Doorbell you want to adjust;
- Select “Device Settings”;
- Next, “General Settings”;
- Choose “Volume Settings”;
- Tweak the volume sliders.
You will find volume options for the two-way talk and the doorbell ringer. Thus, select which one you wish to make louder.
Alert: Adjusting the Two-Way Talk volume is unavailable on all Ring devices.
2. Raise The Volume On Echo Show
Many people use their Ring devices connected to an Echo Show because the device provides a better live view due to its larger screen.
If you are one of those, you will be happy to know that you can adjust the volume for the footage.
Here is how:
- Open the Ring app on your Echo Show;
- Go to the Live View;
- Adjust the volume with the Echo Show’s volume buttons.
Unfortunately, Echo Show won’t allow you to adjust the volume of alerts. Moreover, you can only tweak the volume for what you hear, not what your visitors hear.
3. Ask Alexa To Make It Louder
If you are using an Echo Show or Echo Dot, odds are you also use Alexa as a voice assistant. In that case, you must have added your Ring app to Alexa as a skill.
Connect To Alexa
If you haven’t already connected Ring and Alexa, do this:
- Open the Alexa app;
- Tap on “More”;
- Choose “Skills and Games”;
- Locate the Ring app;
- Select “Enable to Use”;
- Log in with your Ring account;
- Select “Enable Skill and Link Accounts”;
- Choose “Discover Devices.”
That way, you can control your Ring devices with voice commands through Alexa.
Control With Your Voice
Once Alexa and Ring are set up, you must ensure that your Ring device is easily identified.
If you have more than one Ring device, it is a good idea to give them names on the Ring app:
- Open the app;
- Touch the three lines;
- Select “Devices”;
- Choose the device you need to name;
- Tap on “Device settings”;
- Choose “General settings”;
- Select “Device name”;
- Give it a name that’s easy to say.
When all that is done, you can simply say, “Alexa, please make the front door Ring doorbell louder.”
4. Use Your Google Home Integration
If you don’t have Alexa but instead your home is integrated into the Google Home system, you can easily access some of the Ring’s settings via voice assistant too.
For that to be possible, it is necessary to connect both systems correctly.
The Apps You Need
If you are an iOS user, you will need three apps: Google Home, Google Assistant, and Ring.
If you are an Android user, Google Assistant is built-in on your phone.
Connect Ring And Google Home
Here is how you will do the initial setup:
- Open a browser on your computer;
- Go to the Google Assistant Ring services;
- Click on “Send to device”;
- Select the Google Home device that you want to connect;
- Pick up your phone and open the notification;
- Log in with your Ring credentials.
Control With Your Voice
Here is the same we said about Alexa: you might need to set up a name for each Ring device if you have multiple of those.
- Open the app;
- Touch the three lines;
- Select “Devices”;
- Choose the device you need to name;
- Tap on “Device settings”;
- Choose “General settings”;
- Select “Device name”;
- Give it a name that’s easy to say.
Once the devices have names that are easy to differentiate, you just have to talk to the Google smart assistant and ask to make the device’s volume louder.
5. Set Up The Notifications
One issue with having only the Ring Doorbell without additional accessories is that the Ring Doorbell’s volume is not very loud.
In that case, you need to remember to set up notifications for the app.
Here you go:
- Open the app;
- Tap the three-strip icon;
- Choose “Devices”;
- You can adjust notifications in many categories: Ring Alerts, Motion Detection, Motion Alerts, Motion Warning, Motion Sensitivity, Smart Alerts, and Advanced Settings.
You must set everything up so that the app notifies you of activities you deem important.
Moreover, if you have a Ring subscription, you can set up Smart Alerts to distinguish between people’s motion and other sorts.
Tip: If your equipment has Motion Warning, you can toggle it on to notify you whenever a person walks/stops by.
6. Change The Tone
If you are dependent on your phone’s notifications to get alerted by Ring but feel that they are too low, there is a trick to improve that.
Rather than changing the volume directly, you might want to change the tone used for notifications. That’s because some ringtones are louder.
On Android Phones
If you are an Android user, here is what you will do to set the loudest tones for your Ring alert notifications:
- Open the phone’s Settings;
- Choose “Alert settings”;
- Next, “App alert tones”;
- Choose “Ring Alerts”;
- Click on “Advanced options” on the next page.
Then you will be able to choose new sounds for the Ring notifications. You can test each one available and see which one fits best and is loud.
On iPhones
iOS users can also change the ringtone of the Ring alerts. Here is how you can do it:
- Go to the device’s Settings on the Ring app;
- Select the “Sound settings”;
- Check all of the sound tones and assign the one you want.
7. Install A Ring Chime
A further option if you want to hear the Doorbell wherever you are in the house is installing a Ring Chime.
It is especially useful if you have a battery Ring doorbell. That’s because battery doorbells are less powerful.
Adjust The Chime Loudness
After you have installed the Chime inside your house and connected it to the app, you can adjust the settings to ensure it is loud enough.
Here is how:
- Open the app;
- Tap the three lines;
- Select “Devices”;
- Find the Chime you want to adjust;
- Select “Device Settings”;
- Next, “General Settings”;
- Choose “Volume Settings”;
- Tweak the volume sliders.
Tweak Advanced Options
In addition to the regular volume, you can also adjust other aspects of the chime configurations:
- Open the app;
- Tap the three lines;
- Select “Devices”;
- Find the Chime you want to adjust;
- Choose “Audio settings”;
- Select “Chime Alerts” or “Chime Tones.”
“Chime Alerts” allows you to select which type of event should trigger an alarm/notification. “Chime Tones” selects the type of sound that will resound.
Tip: Just like the Ring Doorbell, you can adjust the Chime’s volume and other settings by using voice commands with Alexa and Google Home.
You just have to set up your Ring account with those services, as shown in this guide.
