Steps to Take Before Moving Your Ring Doorbell

Here are the steps you should take before moving your Ring doorbell:

Backing Up Any Recorded Footage

If you want to keep any important videos from your Ring doorbell, back them up before moving.

You’ll be able to download them to your device or share them with your email or social media accounts.

To download a video from the Ring app:

1. Open the Ring app.
2. Tap on the Menu icon.
3. Tap on History and scroll to the video you want to download.
4. Tap on the three dots on the video.
5. Select Share.
6. Tap on Download and wait for the video to be saved on your device.

To download multiple videos at once from the Ring website:

1. Go to Ring.com and sign in to your account. 
2. Go to History.
3. Select Manage and select the videos you want to download. 
4. Click on Download and enter your password.
5. Wait for the videos to be compressed and downloaded as a Zip file.
6. Extract the Zip file and open the MP4 files individually.

4. Connect the wires from the existing doorbell or transformer to the terminals.

WiFi Network and App Setup

After mounting the Ring doorbell, you must connect it to your WiFi and set it up in the Ring app. Here are the steps to do these:

Connecting to a WiFi Network

1. Open the Ring app.
2. Tap on Set Up a Device.
3. Select Doorbells from the list of devices.
4. Scan the QR Code or MAC ID barcode.
5. Name your device according to its location.
6. Follow the instructions in the app to connect your device to your WiFi network. 

Setting Up the Ring Doorbell

7. Press the Setup button to put it in setup mode. 
8. When the ring around the button flashes blue, your device is in setup mode.
9. Wait for your device to connect to your WiFi network and complete the setup process.

Leaving Your Doorbell Behind

If you decide to leave your doorbell behind for the new residents of your old home, there are several things you need to do first. 

• Inform the new residents that you’re leaving the doorbell and explain how it works. 
• Offer to either share access with them or transfer ownership of your device. 
• If you want to transfer ownership, remove yourself as the owner through the app. 
• If you want to share access, invite them as a shared user of your Ring doorbell.
