To check your Transformer Voltage, follow these steps:

  1. Launch the Ring app on your mobile device.
  2. Access the top menu by tapping the three-strip icon.
  3. Navigate to the “Devices” section.
  4. Select your Video Doorbell Pro from the list of devices.
  5. Tap on the “Device Health” tile to proceed.
  6. Look for the “Power” section, where you will find the status of your Transformer Voltage.
  7. Tap on that section to reveal the actual voltage reading.

For optimal performance, the voltage status should be listed as “Good.” Suppose you encounter any issues with your Video Doorbell Pro.

In that case, it is essential to consider the possibility of electrical wiring problems at your location. 

Note: Over time, older wires from your wall may deteriorate, necessitating replacement to maintain the appropriate voltage level for the seamless operation of your Video Doorbell Pro.

Solution #2: Examine The Wire Gauge

The Ring Doorbell Pro requires a minimum of 16 AWG (American Wire Gauge) for its power supply.

Initially, let’s do this:

Solution #3: Assess The Pro Power Kit Wiring

The Pro Power Kit V2 is essential for providing sufficient power to your Ring Video Doorbell Pro. Perhaps it is not correctly installed, or you haven’t installed it yet.

Here is what you will need:

  • Pro Power Kit V2.
  • Wire stripper.
  • Low-voltage electrical tape.
  • Philips head screwdriver.

How To Do It

Before starting the installation, turn off the power to your doorbell system. Locate the circuit breaker or fuse box and switch off the power to the doorbell.

  1. Remove the existing doorbell button from the wall.
  2. Carefully disconnect the wires attached to the back of the doorbell and set it aside.

Solution #4: Check The Battery

Fortunately, the Ring App allows you to check the battery status:

  1. Open the app.
  2. Go to Settings.

First, you must buy the compatible Ring Video Doorbell Plug-in Adapter designed for your Ring model.

After that:

  1. Locate the back of your Ring Video Doorbell.
  2. Find the port designated for the Plug-in Adapter.
  3. Connect the adapter to the device securely.
  4. The LED light on the Ring Doorbell button will turn ON.

If the adapter’s wires are not long enough to reach your power outlet, you can use an extension cord to extend the reach.

Tip: Instead of connecting the hardwired setup to a mechanical doorbell, purchase the Ring Plug-in Chime. 

Simply plug it into an electrical outlet, and it will serve as an indoor chime, alerting you to visitors.

You’ll need the Ring Video Doorbell Pro Plug-in Adapter for the Ring Video Doorbell Pro model.

Once you have it, do the following:

  1. Locate the appropriate port on the Ring Doorbell Pro;
  2. Securely connect the Plug-in Adapter to the device.

The Plug-in Adapter provides a straightforward and hassle-free connection, eliminating the need for existing or new wiring.

Again, use an extension cord if the adapter’s wires are not long enough to reach your power outlet.

Solution #6: Check The Ethernet Cable (For Elite Models)

To troubleshoot this matter effectively, the first step is to reset both the modem and the router, as follows:

  1. Disconnect the modem and router from their power sources.
  2. Allow them to remain disconnected for approximately 1 minute to ensure a complete reset.
  3. Reconnect the modem to its power source, and then connect the router.
  4. Power on both the modem and router.
  5. Once the network is fully up and running, test the functionality of your Ring Doorbell Elite.

If the above doesn’t work, use a different Ethernet cable. Perhaps the current Ethernet cable is no longer suited for the task.

Solution #7: Restart/Reset The Ring Doorbell

We suspect the issue concerns the Ring Doorbell’s hardware in that case. Thus, you can try restarting/resetting the device.

  1. Remove the doorbell’s faceplate.
  2. Locate the reset button (a small, black button located on the back of the faceplate or the side of the device).
  3. Use a paperclip or a similar small, pointed object to press and hold the reset button for about 15 seconds. 
  4. Release the button Once the light starts flashing.
  5. Wait for the doorbell to restart.

If the device restarts successfully, put the faceplate back into its proper place.
