However, some errors trigger a message saying a certain device is already linked.

If the Lorex device is already linked, first check with the previous owner (if there is one) and ask them to unlink their account from the device or system.

Solution #1: Get In Touch With Former Owner

It is common for your Lorex Home to display “This device is already linked” when you try to link the system with your account.

That happens because the previous owner has forgotten to undergo a critical step.

Thus, get in touch with them and ask them to do the following:

1. Open the Lorex Home app.
2. Go to the “Devices” tab.
3. Click on the gear icon.
4. Scroll down.
5. Tap on “Remove device.”
6. Confirm by tapping “Remove.”

After that, the device will be free to add to your Lorex account/app. 

Solution #2: Delete The Account

Perhaps your house has a lot of Lorex devices that constitute an entire security system, but the previous resident owned it.

If they no longer use Lorex, you should ask them to delete their Lorex account.

That is a straightforward method to make the entire system free for your setting up.

1. Log into the Lorex Home app.
2. Go to the Settings tab.
3. Tap on “Account Settings.”
4. Tap “Security.”
5. Select “Delete Account.”

After that, try adding the Lorex devices to your account again.

Solution #3: Change The Wireless Settings

The issue troubling you could also be related to the wireless settings of the Lorex device.

1. Press the camera’s Reset button.
2. Open the Lorex Home app.
3. Go to the “Devices” tab.

6. Tap on “Wireless Network.”

8. Choose “Join.”

1. Enter the Device Password.

Solution #4: Check The DVR System

The message about the device being linked could also show up when you manage the DVR system, but the system is not responding accordingly.

And got the message error that one device is already linked (but that’s wrong). In that case, you can manage the device in the Center without trouble. 

Here is what you can do:

1. Go to the Center’s Home Screen.
2. Find “Device Management.”
3. Find the disconnected/offline device that shows as already linked.
4. Click on “More.”
5. Select “Disconnect.”
6. Press the device’s reset button for 10 seconds.

You should hear a sound when the reset is successful. After that, you can add the device to the LSHSC again.

Solution #6: Reset The LSHSC

The glitch could also affect many devices at once or the entire system.

In that case, you might want to reset the whole Lorex Smart Home Security Center. 

Here is how you can do it:

1. Go to the LSHSC’s home screen.
2. Navigate to “Device Settings.”
3. Select “Restore to Factory Settings.”
4. Confirm by tapping “Yes.”

Wait for the system to restart and set up the Lorex Home Center again.

Physical Reset

Optimize The Internet Settings

Optimizing the internet settings on the system is easy but could eliminate plenty of potential issues.

1. Go to the Live View.
2. Right-click on it.
3. Access the “Quick Menu.”
4. Head to the Main Menu.
5. Go to the Settings.
6. Select “Network” and then “TCP/IP.”
7. If the Mode is “Static,” click on “Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol.”
8. Then “Apply” and “OK.”

After that, the internet problems on your Lorex security system should be gone.

Check The Ethernet Cable

Since this type of system requires steady data to work correctly, it is recommended to set it up with an Ethernet cable when available.

The issue you are facing could be physical, so you might want to do the following:

1. Check if your router is sending data to your other devices.
2. Connect the Ethernet cable to a different LAN port on the router (if available).
3. If the issue persists, check if there is an issue with the device’s Ethernet port (it could be dust).
4. If possible, use a different Ethernet cable.

Note: If you are replacing any Ethernet cable in the Lorex system, you must use a CAT5e or CAT6 model.

The W261AS is reset like this:

1. Find the reset button on the camera’s back.

Reset The W281AA / W282CA Series

The models W281AA and W282CA can be reset by doing this:

Solid Green Light?
