You can use 2 general types of connections:
- HDMI or HDMI ARC
- optical cable
Starting from the HDMI & HDMI ARC, in this post, we’ll discuss both occasions so you could choose which approach suits your setup best.
How To Connect A Soundbar To A Sceptre TV With HDMI Cable?
The HDMI is one of the most popular opinions when it comes down to connecting a soundbar to any TV.
It is by far the best type of connectivity you could choose and the audio quality would be as clear as it can get.
Follow the steps below to connect a soundbar to your Sceptre TV via HDMI:
Step #1 Prepare Setup/Locate Ports
The first step is to prepare your devices. Make sure both your soundbar and Sceptre TV are up and running, with their LED lit up.
Also, locate which HDMI ports you are going to use for the process.
Based on the model of your Sceptre TV, there could be 2-3 HDMI ports (one is ARC input), where you can secure your HDMI unit.
Once everything is set up and you know which ports you are going to use, proceed with the next step.
Step #2 Connect The HDMI
The next thing you have to do is secure the HDMI cable that you are going to use for this process.
We suggest having the soundbar and TV as close as possible, so the cable doesn’t have to overextend to reach the input.
Note: If your Sceptre TV supports HDMI ARC input, feel free to use an HDMI ARC cable for a better quality of the output audio.
Follow the instructions down below to set up the HDMI cable between your soundbar and Sceptre TV easily:
- Grab the HDMI cable you are going to use (regular HDMI or HDMI ARC).
- Plug the first end of the HDMI cable into one of the inputs on the back of your TV.
- Connect the other end of the HDMI unit, into the HDMI slot, located on your soundbar.
Now that you have established a connection between your soundbar and Sceptre TV, let’s set up the configuration by selecting your soundbar in the audio options.
Step #3 Select Soundbar In Audio Settings
The last thing you have to do is select the soundbar in your Sceptre TV’s audio settings.
This is necessary because even if connected, your TV might still be using its inbuild speakers until you select a different audio output device.
This can be done by following the instructions we’ve provided right down below:
- Grab your Sceptre TV remote and press the “Menu” button.
- You will be taken to the home page, where you have to enter the Settings.
- Once in the settings, scroll down until you see a tab named “Sound”.
- Press “OK” to enter the sound settings.
- Tap the “Adjust” button to browse through the sources.
- Select your soundbar (the HDMI input) in the available output audio sources.
Note: While in the audio settings, you could also change the preset equalizer mode for better audio efficiency.
It is really up to the user how they like their audio, but feel free to browse through the presets until you find something that matches your taste!
How To Connect Soundbar To Sceptre TV With Optical Cable?
If HDMI connection wasn’t the method, you were looking for, perhaps you can go with an optical cable to connect your soundbar.
This might not work as efficiently as the HDMI, but it is indeed a great alternative to the HDMI connection displayed in the previous method.
To connect your soundbar to Sceptre TV with optical cable, follow the steps below:
Step #1 Locate Optical Jacks
The first step is to locate the optical jacks on your soundbar and TV.
Keep in mind that they might be labeled differently with the variety of soundbars, so instead of Optical In/Out, you may find Digital Audio Optical In/Out.
Note: The optical jacks should be circular-shaped input both on your soundbar and Sceptre TV.
It is often located on the side panel of your TV, beneath the RCA entries. The optical cable on your soundbar should be on the back, next to the HDMI input.
Locate both of the optical jacks on your soundbar and Sceptre TV and proceed with the next step.
Step #2 Connect The Optical Cable
To make the connection work, you must securely attach the optical cable to both of the jacks you’ve examined in the previous step.
Note: Make sure that the cable isn’t twitching in any unnatural positions, since this can be quite harmful to the output in general, especially with optical cable.
Plug the first end of the optical unit into your TV and screw it tightly. Repeat the same thing with the jack on the soundbar until you’ve connected the cable.
Step #3 Select The Optical Output
Same as with the HDMI, you will have to select the optical output, in order to start hearing audio from your soundbar.
To do that, you have to go to Menu > Settings > Audio > Output > Optical Output/Source.
Once you’ve activated your optical output, we suggest restarting your TV to save the settings and then you can start hearing the audio of your Sceptre TV from the soundbar!
