Although pairing your Lorex camera unit with the internet is not hard at all, there are still some specifications of the process that you should be aware of.

To connect the Lorex camera with the WIFi, download the Lorex Home app and open it on your phone. Head to Devices > Add Device and select your camera. Allow direct WiFi access, create a password for the Lorex device and you’re good to go!

You will have to pair the camera to the mobile application first. Only then you will get the chance to choose the WiFi for your Lorex camera from the available connections.

Step #1 Prepare The Lorex Camera

1. Insert The Lorex Battery

Upon opening the delivery package of your Lorex camera, you will see a battery unit for your camera. If it’s out of the camera, you must insert it through the back compartment.

2. Position Camera Close To Network Device

Since you will be connecting the camera directly, position the Lorex unit next to the network device until further notice.

3. Turn The Device On

To begin connecting the camera in the first place, the unit must be up and running. Look for the blinking LEDs.

Step #2 Download The Lorex Application

This is the app that you will be using to connect your camera with WiFi and to change its settings and features. Most importantly, the home application is used to view the camera’s footage.

Here’s how to get the Lorex Home application in easy steps:

  1. On your smartphone, open the App Store/Google Play.
  2. Write “Lorex” in the search field.
  3. Wait for the results to appear and tap on the first available app.
  4. Download the Lorex Home app onto your smartphone.
  5. Wait for the installation to conclude.
Note: Open the application on your smartphone to ensure that it’s working.

Step #3 Sign Up In Lorex

If this is your first time downloading the Lorex Home application, you most likely don’t have a registration.

Upon launching the app on your smartphone, you will be prompted to either sign up with Lorex or login into your already existing account.

I have a Lorex account

– If you’ve worked with Lorex in the past, tap on “Log In” and enter the credentials for your already-existing Lorex Home app account (username and password).

I don’t have a Lorex account

– You will want to tap on “Sign Me Up” and enter the required credentials to create your Lorex account.

Note: From now on, to access your Lorex camera’ settings you will be using the account you’ve just created.

Step #4 Add The Lorex Device

To begin adding your camera to the WiFi, you will have to add the device to the Lorex account you’ve just signed in or created.

In order to do that, you will have to go to the settings of the Lorex app.

More accurately, to add any device to the Lorex home application, go to Settings > Add Device and from there choose the type of your Lorex device.

Quite frankly, Lorex has a variety of devices that can be added to the application and you must select that you want to add a camera.

Once done, keep reading to scan the QR code of your Lorex camera or enter it manually.

Step #5 Enter Lorex Code

To add your Lorex camera to the home application, you have two options.

You can either scan the QR code on the surface of the camera or enter its code manually from the tap you’ve just accessed.

We will explain both ways of adding Lorex to the home app:

1. Scanning Lorex QR code

By far, this is the easiest method to add Lorex to your home app. In the “Add Device” tab, select Scan the QR code and take your phone next to the camera.

With the camera on your smartphone, capture the QR code and you’re good to go!

2. Entering The Code Manually

If scanning the QR code doesn’t work for you, tap on “Manually Enter Device ID” at the bottom of the page.

You will find the code on the bottom of the camera, labeled on a sticker that you can later take off.

Note: To justify a successful pairing, the camera will chime once and the LED on the device will turn green for several seconds.

Step #6 Allow Lorex WiFi Connection

Once scanning the QR code of your Lorex device, you will be prompted to make the device eligible for WiFi connection.

On that following prompt, simply tap on “Allow” and your Lorex camera will become available for connecting to a WiFi network.

During that time, double-check if your network device is up and running and you can connect the camera.

Step #7 Connect Lorex With WiFi

With all steps leading to this moment, it’s time to review how to connect Lorex camera to WiFi.

The process is really simple and all you need to do is make sure that your WiFi is working as it should.

Here’s how to connect your Lorex camera to the internet:

  1. Once allowing the WiFi access, select your own network from the next tab.
  2. Enter the login password for the WiFi.
  3. Tap on “Connect”.
  4. Wait for Lorex to get connected.
Note: By the time you’re doing this, have your Lorex camera positioned as close as possible to the network router.

Step #8 Create Lorex Camera Password (Optional)

An additional, yet recommended step is to create a password for your Lorex camera.

This will keep the device’ settings and configurations secured and only you and whoever you want will have access to the camera.

On the next tab after connecting the camera, enter the password twice on the required fields and confirm the security check.
