Is your Hisense Roku TV AirPlay not working? Then you have to check the guide below.

Most Roku TVs have AirPlay ready, and you should have no trouble casting from your iPhone or iPad. But issues might arise, and we have many ideas to help.

When AirPlay doesn’t work with the Hisense Roku TV, check the network at some levels. The issue could lie in the TV’s settings that allow the AirPlay functionality or its general firmware.

Hisense Roku TV AirPlay Not Working – 9 Ways To Fix!

Solution #1: Verify The Connection

verifying the connection

Is the AirPlay not working on Hisense Roku TV? One of the first culprits you should have in mind is the internet.

If your router is having trouble handling a lot of data, AirPlay won’t be established.

We recommend you do the following:

  1. Turn the router off.
  2. Turn the TV and iPhone off.
  3. Wait a few minutes so the devices’ hardware can refresh.
  4. Turn the router on.
  5. Turn your iPhone and TV on too.

After that, try casting via AirPlay again and see how it goes.

Solution #2: Refresh The TV

refresh the hisense tv

The issue might also lie in your TV. Its hardware or software might have a slight glitch impacting the AirPlay capacity.

To test for that, you should start by trying a power cycle:

  1. Disconnect the TV from the wall while on.
  2. Wait a while.
  3. Plug it into the outlet.
  4. Power on the TV.

Restart On The System

Instead of/or additionally to a power cycle, you can restart the Roku system by navigating its menu options.

That way, all pieces of software can have a proper restart and eliminate functioning errors.

  1. Press the “Home” button on the remote.
  2. Select “System.”
  3. Go to “System Restart.”
  4. Choose “Restart” and confirm.

Solution #3: Verify The Network On The Devices

verifying the network on the devices

We discussed how important the network is for AirPlay to work correctly.

Beyond ensuring the router is refreshed and transmitting data at its best, you must check if the devices are on the same network.

After all, having multiple routers at home or a dual-band router is common.

Do this:

  1. Go to the Roku TV’s network settings.
  2. Check the Wi-Fi settings on the iPhone/iPad.
  3. The network connection must be the same on both devices.

5GHz Network Matters

Moreover, ensure that the TV and iPhone are connected to a 5GHz network.

Depending on what sort of content you want to share, it could be data-intensive, in which case 5GHz is better for the task.

Reset The Network Details

Suppose you have already noticed that your TV behaves weirdly regarding the network.

In that case, it might be necessary to do the following:

  1. Access Roku’s network settings.
  2. Delete the current Wi-Fi details.
  3. Restart the TV.
  4. Connect it to the Wi-Fi again.
Tip: Doing the same on your iPhone could be useful!

Solution #4: Check The AirPlay Settings

checking the airplay settings

Is the Hisense Roku TV Apple AirPlay not working yet? You could have forgotten to check whether the AirPlay function is active on your Roku TV.

Perhaps you haven’t even checked that your TV is compatible with AirPlay.

Here is a good way of doing both:

  1. Open the TV’s Settings.
  2. Locate “AirPlay and HomeKit.”
  3. Check the AirPlay settings.
  4. Ensure AirPlay remains activated.

If you don’t find that option, your Roku system isn’t compatible. In that case, go to solution #7 or #8.

Check Compatibility

If your Hisense Roku TV has the AirPlay function, checking if your Apple device is also compatible is a good idea.

Here are the compatible systems:

  • iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch with iOS 12.3 or newer.
  • Computers with macOS Mojave 10.14.5 or newer.
Note: If your current iOS or MacOS isn't compatible with AirPlay, you might want to go to your device's settings and look for an update.

Solution #5: Activate Mirroring Options

activating mirroring options

When all of the above is already fine, but the AirPlay is not working as expected, one more option is not yet active.

The screen mirroring must be managed, and here is how you do it:

  1. On your Roku TV, go to “Settings.”
  2. Locate the “System” option.
  3. Then check “Screen mirroring.”
  4. On “Screen mirroring mode,” you can change between “always allow” and “prompt.”
  5. On “Screen Mirroring Devices,” check which devices are listed.

Once you check that your iPhone or iPad is recognized, the AirPlay function should work like a charm.

Solution #6: Clear The TV’s Cache

clearing the tv's cache

Are you still having problems casting via AirPlay? If the TV is compatible and you have already adjusted the necessary settings, the issue might result from an overloaded cache.

Such an amount of data makes the TV’s processor slower.

  1. Click the Home button on the TV remote.
  2. Move the cursor to the “Home” option on the TV.
  3. Click the “Home” button five times in a row.
  4. Click the “Up” button.
  5. Click “Rewind” twice.
  6. Click “Fast forward” twice.

After that, restart the TV and try using AirPlay again.

Note: Cache clearing is helpful when you have too many apps but don't want to delete them. Instead, clearing the cache eliminates useless files that are generated daily.

Solution #7: Update The Firmware

updating the firmware

If AirPlay is unavailable on your Roku TV, it might be because the system is outdated.

Moreover, even if it is available, its issues also can result from a lack of updates.

So you must do the following to restore all functionalities:

  1. Locate the TV’s Settings.
  2. Select the “System” menu.
  3. Head to “System Update.”
  4. Choose “Check Now.”

If an update is truly available, download and install it. After that, review the settings explained in solutions #4 and #5 to see if the update hasn’t altered them.

Note: If you suspect the firmware can't update due to a glitch, you should go to solution #9.

Solution #8: Download AirDroid Cast (Workaround)

downloading airdroid cast (workaround)

Suppose you have already updated your Roku system, but AirPlay is still unavailable.

Or, rather, there is no update to install, and your Roku TV is already too old to support the function.

In that case, you can use AirDroid Cast as a fine workaround:

  1. Download the AirDroid Cast app on your iPhone/iPad.
  2. Open the browser on your Roku TV.
  3. Go to the AirDroid Cast site.
  4. Ensure both devices are on the same network.
  5. Open the app on your iOS device.
  6. Insert the code displayed on the TV or scan the QR code.

By doing the above, you will be able to cast from your iPhone or iPad to the Roku TV.

The process is a bit messier than regular AirPlay, but it is a good replacement.

Note: Since AirDroid Cast is not powered by Apple, any issues with it are not Apple's responsibility. Also, its quality might not be as great as AirPlay's.

Solution #9: Reset The Device

resetting the device

So we have this situation: your TV has AirPlay, you have already adjusted all the settings, and both devices are on the correct network, but the AirPlay function loads forever or doesn’t work.

Then, we are afraid you will need to reset your TV.

  1. Locate the TV’s settings.
  2. Enter “Device preferences.”
  3. Choose “Reset.”
  4. Confirm on “Factory data reset.”
  5. Choose “Erase everything.”

The Roku system will wipe all the data from the TV. However, you can restore it once you log in with your account. But all of the data will be fine this time, and AirPlay should work as intended.

Quick Recap

We suspect that Hisense Roku TV AirPlay not working is caused by a wrong software or network configuration.

Assessing any of those is quick, meaning you should be able to enjoy AirPlay soon enough.
