Hulu Pause Subscription is a much-appreciated feature from the streaming giant. Are you planning to go on a vacation, and you want to push the subscription?
Regardless of the reason, if you know that you are temporarily going away, pausing your membership would be the best course of action to take.
The wide majority of users are not aware of it – but you can put a hold on your membership.
In this guide, we will be discussing how you can temporarily disable your membership with the streaming service.
What Does Putting Your Hulu Subscription on Hold Mean?
Before we dive deep into the topic, let us discuss what it really means.
In the most basic terms, it is like disabling your account at the time. You would not be charged, and you would not be able to use the service.
It is different from cancelling your account because you will still be able to use it when you reactivate it.
Advantages of Pausing Your Account
Putting a temporary cease on your account isn’t actually a bad thing. In fact, it is a strategy that you can do if you’re just watching a few TV series on it video-on-demand service.
Some of the main advantages of pausing your account include:
- No distractions while you’re away, doing something else
- Gives you the break you need from the digital world
Those are only the few main reasons of how you can put a pause on your membership. You can have your own reasons and this guide is the perfect guide that can teach you everything you need to know about how you can put your membership to a temporary halt.
When Does it Take Effect?
Putting a halt or a temporary rest on your membership would be effective on the first day of the next billing cycle.
Here is one quick example of how it works:
If your billing cycle starts on the 15th day of every month, and today is just the 13th, you will still have today and until tomorrow to use it. It’ll just be put on hold starting on the 15th.
So, what is the exact process in pausing your account? Does it require me to contact their customer support team?
NO – there is no need to contact their support for the pausing of your profile or your membership. It is actually simple – you just have to follow these steps.
Hulu Pause Subscription Guide – How Do You Do It?
Here is the complete step-by-step guide on how you can temporarily discontinue your membership.
Step 1. Open the Hulu Website from Your Browser
The first step you have to do is to visit their website.
You can pay their site a visit by visiting the official website. Unfortunately, you would not be able to do this on the app. The only way to put it on rest is through their official website.
Step 2. Login to Your Profile
On the top-right corner of the website, you will see a Login button. Click on that and a prompt will appear asking you for your credentials.
You need to populate the fields using your email address and your password. Once done, hit on LOG IN.
Once logged in, you will see the list of shows and movies that they are recommending.
This basically means that you have already accessed your profile and you have completed the first step.
From that, find your name and click on it. What this does is it opens your Account Information page where you will see different settings.
Step 3. Navigate to the “Hold Your Subscription” Option
What you need to do is to scroll down to the bottom of the page and find Hold Your Subscription.
Step 4. Choose the Duration
Below the pause option it is the Cancel Your Subscription option. This is not the same as what you want to do.
Cancelling it means that you want to cancel or delete your subscription. Whereas pausing it is like keeping it dormant, but your records are still live with them.
That leaves you with the HOLD button available. Click on it and it’ll open up a prompt or a window. This window allows you to choose how long you want the temporary stoppage to take place.
You can choose from one (1) up to twelve (12) weeks of pausing your account.
Step 5. Account Holding Confirmation
After you decide, click on the SUBMIT option at the bottom part of the prompt.
That will lead to the opening of the window that tells you exactly:
- When you initiated the hold
- When it will resume back again
- Message about you having access to your profile until the first day of the hold
Resuming My Subscription
What if I change my mind and I want to watch on the streaming service again? What do I need to do?
Should you choose to go back and watch through their service again, you can just access your profile and hit on the Resume My Subscription button.
This frees it from the hold that you initiated and that took place.
How are You Charged?
The current billing that you have would stop on the last date of your original billing cycle. That is because it will only start to be stopped at the first day of where your current cycle is.
In terms of the charges and the payment, your new billing will start on the day when your membership reactivates, but the charges would not be for until the end of the 30 days.
If your favorite show does not start until next year, the best thing to do is to just cancel your membership and renew it when you want to come back. The reason for the 12-week period is only for short-term disabling purposes.
Needing longer than that would mean that you will be better off just cancelling and renewing your subscription.
This comprehensive Hulu pause subscription guide is perfect for everyone who isn’t sure what they need to do to be able to stop their billing whenever they’re not planning on using the video-on-demand service.
You do not need to be an expert to be able to put it on a temporary stop!
