How to connect Wyze to new WiFi? First, you must set up all your smart devices whenever you change your Wi-Fi settings.
Wyze products require you to perform the setup process again via the app. In addition, some products need to have their old info deleted. When you face issues on the app, you must factory reset your camera.
The guide below covers all methods you need to connect Wyze products to a new network environment.
You must read carefully and follow the steps.
How To Connect Wyze To New WiFi? – Guide
When adding a Wyze camera to a different wireless network or connection, it’s ideal to proceed as if you were installing a brand-new Wyze camera.
You’ll want to go through the typical Wyze Cam setup procedure. If you connected your camera a while back but have forgotten how we will teach you how.
Update your app, and if there are firmware upgrades available, install them. Okay, it’s time to set up your Wyze cam’s wireless connection.
Alert: Always ensure that you are connecting to a 2.4GHz network. Wyze cameras don't work on 5GHz connections!
Method #1: Connecting Wyze Cam v1, v2, and Wyze Cam Pan
Most Wyze cams work more or less the same regarding Wi-Fi setup, but sometimes they have differences.
Because of that, the procedure we are about to explain only applies to Wyze Cam v1, v2, and Wyze Cam Pan.
You must refer to the corresponding method in the next sections if you have any other model.
- Open the Wyze app
- Tap Home
- Click the + button
- Now Add Device
- Follow the instructions on the app
Note: This method does not require you to erase any previous configurations. All you have to do is follow the steps above.
Method #2: Changing The Details For Wyze Cam Outdoor
The Wyze Cam Outdoor functions a bit differently than other cameras of the same brand.
Here is what you must do to change its Wi-Fi details and connect to a new network:
- Open the app
- Find your camera
- Delete all of its details
Now go back to the Wyze app main menu and do the following:
- Open the Wyze app
- Tap Home
- Click the + button
- Now Add Device
- Follow the instructions on the app
Tip: Always ensure that the camera is well-charged before setting it up.
Method #3: Changing Wi-Fi Details On Other Wyze Models
Unfortunately, the manufacturer is unclear on how to set some models into a new Wi-Fi environment.
Of course, we are also talking about Wyze Cam v3 Pro and other models.
Thus, the best approach is doing what is safest. That would be deleting the info of your cam from the app and adding it again.
To do that, you must follow the steps we laid down in Method #2.
If that method does not work, you might have to reset your camera. We will teach you that in the methods below.
Method #4: Hard Reset Your Camera
Hard reset is also known as factory reset. That means returning your camera to its default settings.
You would want to do that in case it is not working properly. For example, perhaps you are connecting the Wyze camera to new Wi-Fi, which is troublesome.
Thus, the best thing to do is perform a reset.
The steps below work on Wyze Cam v1, v2, v3, and Pan v1 and v2.
- Remove the microSD if there are any
- Press the setup switch for ten seconds (Cam v1 requires 20 seconds)
- Wait for the camera to initiate (between 30 seconds and 5 minutes)
- The status light will start blinking yellow (v3 will become red)
- The camera is now reset
Finally, you can set the new Wi-Fi details:
- Open the Wyze app
- Tap Home
- Click the + button
- Now Add Device
- Follow the instructions on the app
Note: Wyze Cam Outdoor cannot be factory reset.
Method #5: Factory Reset Wyze Video Doorbell Pro
Suppose the common way of resetting Wi-Fi details via the app does not work on your Video Doorbell Pro.
In that case, you must reset it to factory settings.
- Locate the side button on the Wyze Chime Pro
- Hold it for 3-5 seconds
- Wait to hear “Reset successfully.”
- A light will flash red, then solid yellow, and flash yellow.
- The device is now ready for the new network.
You can now connect your Video Doorbell Pro:
- Open the Wyze app
- Tap Home
- Click the + button
- Now Add Device
- Follow the instructions on the app
Note: Wyze advises you to submit a log before resetting your device.
Method #6: Reset Wyze Video Doorbell
The Video Doorbell and the Video Doorbell Pro are two different products.
So if you attempted Method #5 with a Video Doorbell, it probably didn’t work!
So, if the model you have is Wyze Video Doorbell and you can’t get it to connect to your new Wi-Fi, follow the steps below:
- Locate the button on the back of the device
- Press it
- Wait for any sign that the reset was successful
Now go back to the app and:
- Tap Home
- Click the + button
- Now Add Device
- Follow the instructions on the app
Method #7: Set Up The New Wi-Fi With Old Details
When you have too many smart devices at home and buy a new router or change your ISP, you don’t need to change all the details.
Changing all details will only give you a headache since you must set up all devices again and tell your friends the new password.
Instead, you can set up the new Wi-Fi with the same details you have used.
Let’s say your old network was named GandalfTheWhite, and the password was 1234 (please don’t use such an easy password!). Then, use the same settings on the new router!
All of your devices will connect automatically. No need to change anything on them!
Note: You should use these settings for the 2.4GHz network, as Wyze cameras only work with that frequency.
Troubleshooting QR Code Reading
When setting up your Wyze camera, a part of it includes reading the QR code on your device’s screen.
Unfortunately, some users have trouble with that part.
Here is what you can do to solve the issues:
- Remove the protection from the camera’s lenses
- Avoid any glare on your phone’s screen
- Clean the camera’s lenses
- Try holding the QR code upside down
- If your screen is too large (more than 5.5 inches), move it a bit farther
If none works, go back to the methods above, where we teach you how to reset your camera.
In case the problem still persists, contact Wyze support.
What We Learned
When you need to connect Wyze to new Wi-FI, there are some procedures you must follow.
Some cameras don’t require you to delete old settings; you just need to overwrite them.
The Outdoor model is a bit more complicated as you do have to delete old settings.
If none works, you can resort to resetting (except for the Outdoor cam). However, if you have too many cameras in your house and are upgrading your Wi-Fi, you can simply leave the SSID and password as is!
