- Incorrect Recording Schedule
- Wrong Camera Allocation
The problem you’re experiencing is definitely related to one of the bullets above.
Luckily in this guide, we’ve found a solution for each of these causes. With that being said, let’s jump in!
How To Fix When Wyze Camera Not Recording Events?
If your Wyze camera is not recording events, then follow the below methods completely to set up your event recordings in the correct way.
In addition, we’ll address each possibility we’ve mentioned above so you can restore the event recording on your Wyze camera!
Solution#1 Re-Enable Event Recording
Sometimes the Wyze app experiences glitches and don’t properly implement the settings to connected devices.
There may be a chance that the Event Recording is disabled for the camera or may not be set up properly.
Turning OFF and ON the Event Recordings will refresh the services!
Here is how you can reenable Event Recording for the Wyze camera:
- Open the Wyze App.
- Tap on your Wyze camera.
- Select the Settings gear icon from the top right corner.
- Press on Event Recording.
- Tap on the Detect Motion toggle button.
- Enable Sound Detection.
After re-enabling the Wyze camera will start to detect any activity in front of the sensor, which is what we need.
To test, simply imitate movement in front of the camera to determine whether the event will be captured.
Tip: The footage can be viewed from the Wyze App > Cam > Settings > Event Recordings.
Solution #2 Increase Sensor Sensitivity
In case your Wyze camera is still not recording events, then maybe your detection sensor sensitivity is too low.
This will prevent the Wyze camera to detect some actions and that’s why it is unable to record the events.
- You can manually adjust the Wyze camera sensor sensitivity levels!
- Open the Wyze App.
- Tap on your Wyze Camera.
- Click on the Settings icon from the top right corner.
- Tap on Detection Settings.
- Drag the slider to set the Detection Distance to Medium.
- Drage the slider to set Image Sensitivity to Medium.
Important!
You can also adjust both settings to High / Far, but then your Wyze camera will start to detect every movement whether it is the pets, light, tress movement, etc.
So, adjust according to your requirements but always keep in mind that too high sensitivity is not recommended.
Solution #3 Reset Recording Schedule!
Wyze cameras record the entire day or in a specific time span, predetermined in the application by the user.
Maybe you have scheduled the wrong timings and you are looking for recordings that are not yet recorded or not there.
- This is why we’ll reset the recording’s schedule to start fresh!

Note: For manual scheduling, make sure to enter the “Start Date” and “End Date” correctly.
Solution #4 Alter Cool Down Time
Sometimes the Wyze camera record 12 seconds of event footage, and takes a 5-minute break for a cooldown.
This is the default cooldown period, unfortunately, a higher cooldown period means more chances of events missing during this window.
Solution: Set your Wyze cam Cooldown Period to 1 min!
Here is how you can alter the recording cooldown period:
- Open the Wyze App.
- Navigate to your camera Settings.
- Tap on Event Recording.
- Click on Recording Cooldown.
- Set to 1 min.
After setting up, your Wyze camera will take only 1 min cooldown break after every event recording, which is the minimum you can use.
This will help, miss as fewer events as possible but you also need to keep an eye on your camera’s storage!
Tip: Clear captured events that you no longer need to free up storage!
Solution #5 Inspect Recording Rules
After setting up the recording scheduling and cooldown time, if your Wyze camera is still not recording events perhaps the Camera Rules are the culprit.
We’ll need to enable the motion detection manually by reaching into the application settings.
Let’s learn more!
Here is how you can edit the camera recording rules:
- Open the Wyze App.
- Go to the Home tab and tap on […].
- Tap on Edit / Add rules.
- Locate the rules related to Wyze event recordings.
- Turn on the Camera or Motion Detection (If Disabled).
Your Wyze camera should now start recording events!

Wrong camera allocation is one of the major reasons that’s why your camera becomes unable to detect any movement.
There are many factors that could prevent the camera from detecting any activity, so let’s take a look at some of them:
- An obstacle in front of the Wyze camera
- The camera is too far from the detection area
- Wyze camera is facing the wrong way
Aside from the camera allocation, it is also very important to adjust the Detection Zone in the app.
This specifies the area from where the camera has to detect any motion activity.
