Wondering why is Nanit not showing temperature? Well, keep reading!
The Nanit baby camera is a great way to monitor our little ones and also keep us aware of the temperature and humidity in the room.
Sometimes, however, when we can’t see the temperature readings we need to know where to look first and how to solve the problem!
To resolve Nanit camera temperature issues in the app, perform a Power Cycle on the device and reconnect the power equipment. Ensure the Nanit camera is securely connected to the stand.
The solution only takes a minute so let’s first check the primary possibilities!
Why is Nanit Temperature Not Working?
There are quite a few reasons why the Nanit temperature readings won’t show up in the mobile application.
They include different factors concerning the device’s functionality and some of them can easily be solved.
Let’s take a look at what’s preventing the temp from showing up!
- Camera Not Connected To Stand
- Power Source/Equipment Fault
- Nanit Application Data/Cache Issue
- Outdated Nanit Application Firmware
- Faulty Nanit Temperature Sensor
As for now, we’re going to exclude the possibility of a hardware failure with the Nanit sensors and attempt all possible solutions we can.
Without further ado let’s jump right in!
How To Fix When Nanit Not Showing Temperature?
In order to solve the problem as quickly as possible, we strongly recommend following the solutions below in the correct order.
In addition, read everything and make sure not to skip any of the tips, notes, and alerts.
Let’s jump right in!
Solution #1 Wait for 30 Minutes!
Even if this sounds weird and pointless, waiting for a while it’s extremely important when you’re installing your Nanit baby monitor for the first time.
The sensor’s temperature has to be adjusted to the room’s temperature to start delivering accurate readings.
- Simply wait for at least 30 minutes before checking the temperature!
This time window is called the “warm-up period” and the device should remain plugged into the power and turned on.
When you’re ready restart the baby monitor and check whether the temperature would show and even further if it’s accurate.
Tip: Waiting for longer guarantees that the warm-up period will be over!
Solution #2 Power Cycle Nanit
The Nanit camera is powered by a standard USB Type-A cable with a power adapter that arrives in the box.
When the temperature is not showing, the problem can easily be solved by a power circulation, which discharges the device providing a fresh system restart.
Here’s how to power cycle a Nanit baby monitor:
- Turn OFF the Nanit camera.
- Unplug the Power Adapter from the wall outlet.
- Disconnect the USB cable from the adapter.
- Unplug the USB cable from the Nanit camera.
- Wait for at least 3 minutes.
- Reconnect the Nanit power supply.
Before plugging the device into the power, stop for a moment and test the wall outlet.
Simply plug in your smartphone just to make sure that the power source is functional.
In case the power appears to be fine, plug in your Nanit baby monitor and test whether the temperature will show.
Note: If you have a spare USB Type-A or power adapter, replace the Nanit power supply!
Solution #3 Reconnect Camera To Stand
A frequent reason why the temperature on a Nanit won’t show in the app is when the camera is not properly attached to the stand.
In case your baby monitor is new and you’re not familiar with how the camera inserts into the stand, follow the steps below:
- Turn OFF your Nanit camera.
- Align the camera pings on the stand slots.
- Insert them together until you hear a *click*.
Do not apply too much pressure to prevent damaging the camera’s connectors.
In case you don’t hear a click, inspect the bottom part of the camera and stand for any obstructions.
If your Nanit camera is properly connected but the temperature is still not showing, keep reading!
Solution #4 Check WiFi/Internet
The temperature won’t show in the Nanit app while your smartphone or camera is disconnected from the internet.
This is why it’s important not to only check whether your device is connected to the WiFi but also if the network is actually working.
Quick Tip: On your smartphone, open a web browser and try surfing online!
The next step is to connect the Nanit camera to the WiFi so here’s how:
- Open the Nanit Application.
- From Settings tap on the Nanit camera.
- Press on Advanced, then select “(Re)pair Nanit with the Network”.
- Choose your WiFi Network and insert the Password to connect.
When you’re connected, after a couple of minutes the temperature readings should start to appear in the Nanit app.
In case, however, the problem persists, proceed with the next step!
Solution #5 Update Nanit Camera Firmware
The next possibility for the Nanit app not to show the temperature is when the camera is running an Outdated Firmware Version.
If that’s the case, perhaps other features such as humidity readings will also not work.
Let’s next learn how to update!
- Open the Nanit App > Side Menu.
- Tap on your Nanit Camera.
- From there go to Settings.
- Go to the Advanced Tab.
- Tap on the Update button.
You won’t see an Update button if your Nanit camera is already up to date. In case, however, there is an update, don’t proceed further without updating.
The temperatures should now show!
Tip: Also update the Nanit App from your device’s application store!
Solution #6 Factory Reset Nanit Camera
The final and most-powerful solution that we’re going to attempt is the Factory Reset.
This method will revert the device’s operational state to factory default. That means ALL settings and confirmations will be permanently lost.
Also, the Nanit device will be disconnected from the app, and you will need to perform the initial setup, providing us with a fresh start.
Here’s how to perform a Factory Reset on a Nanit baby camera:
- Locate the Reset button near the power port.
- Press and hold the Reset button for 10 seconds.
- Wait until the status blue light starts to blink.
The blinking light indicates that the reset has finished and you can now connect the Nanit camera back to the application.
Again, you’ll need to wait for at least 30 minutes after the reset to confirm whether the temperature readings are now showing or not. Be patient.
Note: In case the light won’t start flashing, restart the camera and try the reset again!
Nanit Temperature and Humidity Not Showing…
In case, both the temperature and humidity won’t show in the Nanit app, even after attempting all of the solutions above, perhaps the sensor is faulty.
Sadly, replacing the Nanit sensor is not possible at home, except if you’re a technician so it’s always better to seek professional help.
In case your Nanit device is new and still covered by warranty, now is your chance to contact Nanit Customer Service and ask for assistance.
Hopefully, you’ll receive a replacement Nanit.
Tip: Use the hotline (1-866-696-2648) to contact Nanit directly during working hours!
That was everything about how to bring Nanit’s temperature back so let’s now recap!
Wrapping Up:
Thus to resolve Nanit camera temperature issues in the app, perform a Power Cycle and reconnect the power equipment. Ensure the camera is securely connected to the stand and keep the device’s firmware up to date for optimal performance.
