How to pair Lutron remote? The answer to such a question will depend on which model you have and which Lutron solution you have installed in the environment.
Pairing the Lutron remote through the app if you have Caseta Wireless. For all the other Lutron solutions, you must press one of the buttons present on the Pico remote and the program/pair button on the other device.
Lutron offers plenty of solutions for controlling its several devices. In addition, several Pico remote models are useful for varying situations.
Below we will cover how you can pair the Pico remote to each protocol.
How To Pair Lutron Remote – All The Methods
How to pair a Lutron Pico Remote? Of course, that will depend on which system you want to connect the Pico remote to.
The most basic connectivity solution is Caséta Wireless, which counts on Lutron’s dedicated app.
Caséta is the best for simple households where only a few people live.
For larger environments or more specific necessities, Lutron offers a wide range of protocols compatible with different devices.
All of them are compatible with at least one version of the Pico remote.
Method #1: Pair With Caseta Wireless/Maestro Wireless
When the Pico remote is paired with your Caseta system, it can control all the devices on that system.
So, for example, if there are multiple devices on the system and you set it to “On,” all of them will power on.
However, later you can adjust everything in the app, so the situation doesn’t become chaotic.
How to pair Lutron Caseta Pico remote? There are two main methods to pair the Pico control to Caseta.
Pair Lutron Pico To The App
Here is how you can pair with the app:
- Open the Lutron app
- Head to Settings
- Click on Add Device
- Select the Pico Remote
- Keep the “Off” button on the remote for 10 seconds
That process should pair the Pico remote successfully to your Caseta system. Later, you can choose which devices your Pico remote will control.
After all, the Caseta system supports multiple Pico controllers, meaning you can use several in your house to control different rooms/scenes.
Pair Lutron Pico To A Device
Alternatively, pairing Lutron Pico remote to a single Caseta or Maestro device is possible without using the app.
However, the device must not be app-bound necessarily.
- Locate the Caseta/Maestro dimmer or switch you want to control
- Press the “off” button for 6 seconds
- Release when a green light flashes
- Press the “off” button on the Pico remote
- The system controlled by the pairing switch/dimmer must flash three times
- Release the “off” button
Now your Pico remote is ready to control a single switch or dimmer and all associated lights.
Method #2: Pair With RA2 Select
While Caseta Wireless allows up to 75 devices (each Pico control associated counts toward that limit), the RA2 Select allows up to 100.
As a result, it is a solution for mid-market residential applications.
Live in a house where RA2 Select is available. The process of pairing one or more Pico devices will differ from Caseta.
That is because RA2 Select and other Lutron solutions don’t count with the Lutron app.
- Hold the “Program” button on the main repeater
- Release when a LED light flashes quickly
- Hold down any button on the Pico remote
- Hold the matching button on the main repeater
- The LED light will stop flashing
Be mindful that the button you press on the Pico remote is the one that will be set up for controlling the system.
So choose the button that is more convenient for you.
Note: Not every Pico control model is compatible with RA2 Select. Check Lutron's site to ensure you have the correct control if pairing fails.
Method #3: Pair With RadioRA 2
Again, RadioRA 2 is an alternative to the common Caseta Wireless. Its device limit is 200, which is meant to cover up to 7500 sq ft.
There are many ways to set up a system using Lutron’s RarioRA 2 solution. Certainly, you can use the Pico remote control to make management easier on your end.
Here is how you can connect the Pico remote to RadioRA 2:
- Press and hold the “pair” button on the main control unit/smart bridge
- Release when a LED light starts flashing
- Press and hold the Pico pairing button
- Release once Pico’s LED starts flashing
- The light on both devices will stop flashing once they are paired
Tip: If the pairing fails, restart the main control unit and try again by holding the button on both devices simultaneously.
Method #4: Pair With HomeWorks
If you are responsible for the light system of huge, luxurious environments, Lutron’s HomeWorks is the perfect solution.
As with all the other solutions mentioned above, HomeWorks has native compatibility with the Pico control.
You can add multiple controls to a single HomeWorks system.
And you probably will use plenty of them, so it is better you see how to pair:
- Press and hold the “pair” button on the HomeWorks unit
- Release when a LED light starts flashing
- Press and hold the Pico pairing button
- Release once Pico’s LED starts flashing
- The light on both devices will stop flashing once they are paired
Method #5: Pair With GRAFIK Eye QS/Energi Savr Node Solutions/Quantum
A few systems developed by Lutron don’t have a “pair” button but rather a “program” button.
It is used for many functions but can also be used for pairing with the Lutron Pico remote.
Here is how to pair with GRAFIK Eye QS/Energi Savr Node Solutions/Quantum:
- Hold the “program” button on the main control unit
- The LED light should start flashing rapidly
- Hold the Pico pairing button
- A LED on the remote will also start flashing
- Release both buttons
- The LED lights should become solid
The devices should now be already paired. You can test.
Method #6: Pair With Sivoia QS
The Sivoia QS shading system has its way of pairing with the Pico remote.
Here is how:
- Keep the “OFF” button on the Pico remote for about 6 seconds
- Release if a LED starts flashing
- On the Sivoia QS control unit, hold the “Program” button
- Release when the LED starts flashing
- Press the button you want to assign to the Pico remote
- Press the “OFF” button on the Pico remote again (don’t hold)
The pairing will be complete once the LED stops flashing in the Sivoia QS system.
Method #7: Pair With Serena Shades
Connecting the Pico control with Serena Shades requires a Lutron Smart Bridge.
If you have a Lutron Smart Bridge, simply follow the steps:
- Hold the OFF button on the Pico remote for 6 seconds
- The flashing light indicates the pairing mode
- Open the Lutron app
- Click on “Smart Bridge”
- Go to “Settings”
- Select “Devices”
- Tap “Add device.”
- Select the Pico remote
Next, you must assign the Pico remote to the shade using the Lutron app:
- Select the shade you want to control
- Tap “Controls”
- Select “Pico remote.”
- Follow the prompts
Method #8: Pair With Vive
Vive is yet another protocol designed by Lutron that works with some products.
Its pairing method is a bit different, so take notes on how it is done:
- Hold the “pair” button on the Vive system main repeater
- Release when the LED starts flashing
- Press “on” and “favorite” buttons on the Pico remote
- A LED should start flashing
- Release those buttons
- Within 30 seconds you must press “favorite” again
That way your Pico remote will now become a part of the Vive system.
