How to change WiFi on Kwikset Halo Lock? That will depend on your Halo Lock’s status.
Usually, changing the Wi-Fi is not very complicated and requires only a few taps and clicks.
Changing the Wi-Fi on a Kwikset Halo Lock requires you to first delete the old Wi-Fi’s details, which must be done through the app, performing a partial network reset or a full reset in more severe cases. Then, connecting it to a new Wi-Fi requires the Kwikset app or a smart home system.
Since there are three ways of resetting the Kwikset Halo Lock to forget old Wi-Fi details, we will cover them and explain the differences.
The most simple resetting method will do the trick when you are lucky.
How To Change WiFi On Kwikset Halo Lock
When you need to change Wi-Fi on Kwikset Lock, you must check what model your lock is.
Some models have more than one option for doing that. Other models, though, will require you to reset the whole system.
The best scenario is when you can easily change Wi-Fi settings using the app.
We will split this article into two parts: the first deals with forgetting the old network credentials, and the second will help you connect to a new Wi-Fi.
How To Erase Old Network Settings On Halo Lock
If you want to change the Wi-Fi settings on your Kwikset Halo Lock, it is necessary to erase the old credentials.
Unfortunately, adding a new wireless network and switching between them is impossible.
Method #1: Do A Network Reset
The most widespread method of forgetting old Wi-Fi credentials on the Halo lock is a network reset on the device itself.
However, it will only eliminate the old network information from the lock if performed correctly.
- Press the A button 10 seconds straight
- An amber LED will light up along with a short beep
- Tap the Program Button quickly
- A green light and a long beep will follow
Method #2: Erase Wi-Fi Settings Via The App
The Halo lock is designed to work specifically with the Halo app. That means it should be possible to change Wi-Fi settings through it.
Since there are many variations of the Halo lock, not all models will work the same.
Follow the steps to erase your Halo Lock’s Wi-Fi settings on the app:
- Open the app
- Find your connected locks
- Tap the Halo lock that needs to change network settings
- Tap the gear icon
- If available, select Wi-Fi settings
- Disconnect the lock from the current Wi-Fi
Method #3: Fully Reset The Halo Lock
Sometimes the other two methods are unavailable or do not work to reset the Wi-Fi settings.
If they do not work, something might be wrong with the lock.
In that case, a good old reset will solve the problem:
- Take the battery out
- Press the Program button while inserting the battery
- For 30 seconds, keep pressing the button
- Release when the status LED is red and the lock beeps
- Press the Program button once more
- Watch for the LED to begin to flash red and green
Tip: Factory resetting is also recommended when you want to erase all settings from the lock.
That is great when you move to another house or sell the lock. It is also effective when you are setting up a new network.
How To Connect Kwikset Halo Lock To A New Wi-Fi
Once you’ve deleted all the old Wi-Fi settings on the Kwikset Halo lock, you must complete the Kwikset change Wi-Fi process.
If you’ve had your lock for a long time, you might have forgotten a few details of the process.
Preparation Steps
Smart devices such as the Halo Lock have a few requirements when you are setting it on a Wi-Fi network:
- The network must be 2.4GHz
- It must be protected by WPA2 encryption
- Don’t place the lock too far from the router or signal repeater
Some newer smartphones already connect to 5GHz networks.
If the smartphone on which you will download the Halo app is one of those, you must switch between networks.
Reset Your Router
A great tip for setting up your Halo lock is resetting the router before doing it.
That is because a few users have difficulty connecting the Halo lock to the network when the router is already processing too much data.
- Locate the router’s power button
- Hold it for a few seconds
- Release after the lights go out
- Wait a minute
- Turn it back on
