Frigidaire Electric Oven Not Heating? – Complete Fix Guide

Is your Frigidaire electric oven not heating? As annoying as this issue can be, it, fortunately, has more than one solution!

The most common causes of the problem are a defective heating element or igniter. Other components that might be failing are the thermal block or control board.

This guide will help you identify and fix the most frequent issues with the Frigidaire electric oven.

Why Is My Frigidaire Electric Oven Not Heating?

Before we get to the fixing guide, you must understand why your Frigidaire Electric Oven prevents heating.

That way, it is easier to troubleshoot correctly.

Common causes include:

1. Faulty igniter – If your igniter becomes insufficient, it may fail to open the safety valve properly, resulting in the oven failing to heat.

2. Heating Element – If some part of the element is damaged, there won’t be continuity, thus not allowing the whole oven to heat up properly.

3. Power problem – Power issues will render your machine inoperable. If the electrode is not changed, there will be no flame.

4. Control board – As the name suggests, the control board plays an important role in heating your oven. If there is any issue with it, you should replace it. 

How To Fix Your Frigidaire Electric Oven’s Heat Function

Is your Frigidaire oven not heating up? Again, there is no reason to panic, as there are plenty of ways to troubleshoot it. 

We believe you can troubleshoot yourself. But first, you need to test a bit, find out the problem, and then follow the solutions below. 

Solution #1: Replace Heating Elements

As with several components, heating elements do not always fail entirely. However, these components may deteriorate with time, which is why a slow-heating oven exists.

Depending on the model of your Frigidaire electric oven, one or several of the following can malfunction:

• Bake element 
• Broil element 
• Assist element 
• Side elements

To learn which is failing, turn the oven on and check the elements. Does the bottom one glow?

If it doesn’t, this means replacement is necessary. The same goes for the upper element.

Moreover, you can see that the elements need replacement when each or all of them are not showing common blazing colors (red or orange).

Replacing A Heating Element

Ensure you buy the correct heating element to replace your electric Frigidaire oven. Now, to take out the damaged element:

1. Open up the oven door and pull the oven racks out
2. Remove the screws securing the element in the back of the oven
3. Pull the bake element out enough 
4. Disconnect the wires 

Now you can install the new heating element:

1. Slide the new element into the oven
2. Reconnect the wires 
3. Put the screws in
4. Put the racks in 
5. Close the door
6. Plug the oven and test it out

Note: Don't let the wires fall back inside the oven wall when you disconnect them. If you lose them back there and can't fish them out, you will have to either pull out the device.

Solution #2: Replace the Igniter

If you find out that the igniter is not doing its job correctly, go to a store near you and buy a new igniter for your electric oven.

Tell the seller the exact model, and they will sell you what you need.

Now, on to the fixing:

Removing the Oven Igniter

1. Open the oven door 
2. Remove the main base from the two tabs on the back 
3. Remove the two screws in the oven burner bracket 
4. Disconnect the igniter wiring by pressing the two side tabs
5. Pull upward to remove it

Replacing the Oven Igniter

1. Plug in the igniter’s wiring harness to the terminal in the back 
2. Place and align the igniters bracket to the holes in the oven burner bracket 
3. Reinstall the left and right screws by
4. Tuck the wires into the oven valve support
5. Align the two points on the main base to the two tabs in the back 
6. Close the oven door
7. Reconnect your appliance to the wall

Note: This method works for electric ovens and gas ovens alike!

Solution #3: Checking and Fixing Electrical Problems

When there is any electrical problem, the Frigidaire electric oven can’t heat up all the way. 

You must be aware of some specs of your device. It requires a 240V electrical outlet to 60A double-pole circuit breaker. The minimum required circuit current is 20 amps.

Consequently, a considerable voltage or amperage instability might prevent your oven from functioning.

We assume that the circuit breaker has not been tripped and that the socket provides electricity. Otherwise, you will be unable to identify any issues.

You should not replace the terminal block immediately. Frigidaire ovens feature three cables or wires that plug into the terminal block.

The combined voltage from the outlet’s left and right wires is 240V.

Measuring with a Voltmeter

If you connect a voltmeter to the left and center wires of the oven terminals, you should receive a reading of around 120V. 

A reading of 120V may also be obtained by checking the middle and right wires at the oven’s terminals.

If you put a voltmeter between the two terminals on the left and right, you should get a reading of 240V.

If you do not obtain such results, there is likely an issue with the wall socket or the wires.

Because the oven has to be wired in for the voltage measurement, doing such a test requires particular caution.

Replacing the Terminal Block

If the measurement showed that there are electric issues, you must replace the terminal block.

Here is how to remove the damaged terminal block:

1. Pull out the plug or turn off the power supply.
2. To remove the terminal block access cover, undo the screw that holds it in place.
3. Unscrew the nuts holding the power cord and Main power supply wire
4. Slide the connectors off the positions.
5. To let go of the terminal block, take out the screws.

You can now put the new terminal block in place.

1. Align the new block’s insulator.
2. Position the assembly on the rear panel thread
3. Make the screws tighter
4. Connect the power cord’s grounding strap to the middle post of the terminal block.
5. Attach the strap’s other end to the panel
6. Put the black wires on the left post and the red wire on the right post.
7. Move the access cover and use the mounting screw to keep it in place.

Alert: You should not take this step without the necessary expertise.

Solution #4: Replacing the Control Board

The control board of your oven supplies electricity to the baking circuit.

If the control board is faulty, electricity will not be sent, preventing the oven from heating. 

Only by replacing the control board can this problem be resolved.

First, let’s remove the damaged control board:

1. Remove the screws that hold the panel to the rear of the range.
2. Remove the access panel that conceals the oven control board
3. Detach the wire harness from the board
4. Remove the four screws that secure the control board
5. Extract the control board

Now let’s install the new control board. First, align the screw holes on the replacement oven control board with the screw holes on the range. Next:

1. Secure the component using the control board screws
2. Rejoin the control board wire harness.
3. Put the replacement control board in place
4. Reinstall the rear access panel.

The electric oven should be fine by now. You can plug it into the socket and test it.
