How To Connect Level Lock With Alexa?

How do you connect Level Lock to Alexa? Making a Level Lock functional within the Alexa environment involves four main steps.

The first is a preparation step that requires installing the lock properly and adding it to its dedicated app. 

Secondly, enable your Echo device for Amazon Sidewalk. After that, you must “teach” Alexa a new skill: controlling the lock.

Finally, the fourth step is setting up the voice commands you will use.

What you will need is the following:

• Level Lock or Lock Deadbolt
• Level Home app
• Alexa app
• Any device of the Echo family
• Amazon Sidewalk

Step #1: Configure Your Level Lock

Since the Level Lock is a smart device, it requires 2.4GHz Wi-Fi.

That is because 2.4GHz has a wider range, allowing the device to be farther from the router than a 5GHz device could be.

Such a limitation implies that you must also connect your main phone to the 2.4GHz network. After all, you will use it in every step of the process.

Thus, if it is connected to a different network, the devices will not be able to communicate.

Set Up The App

Now that your phone is set to the correct Wi-Fi turn the Level Lock on. Next, you must download the Lock Home app.

It is available both for iOS and Android.

Once the Lock Home app is installed:

1. Open the app
2. Log in (or register if you don’t have an account)
3. Tap on “Add device.”
4. Find your Level Lock and add it

Step #2: Set Up Amazon Sidewalk

Smart locks and security cameras can connect to Amazon Sidewalk, a low-bandwidth network, even outside the main Wi-Fi network’s coverage area.

That way, devices connected by the Amazon Sidewalk can form a stronger connection.

In addition, Amazon sells many devices that can operate the Amazon Sidewalk, including any of the Echo family devices.

How To Enable Amazon Sidewalk

So if you are connecting to Alexa, you already have an Echo Dot or Echo Show.

Then, here is how you can activate the Amazon Sidewalk:

1. Open the Alexa app 
2. Go to the Devices section 
3. Select the Echo device
4. Choose “Settings” on your Echo device
5. Scroll down until you find the Amazon Sidewalk option
6. Toggle it to “on.”
7. Confirm

Now your Amazon Echo will redistribute a bit of your Wi-Fi so your other devices (such as locks and cameras) placed on your house’s border can have a stronger connection.

Step #3: Connect To Alexa

Fortunately, the process is the same regardless of the system you are in.

First, you must enable the Level lock skill. You can think of it as “teaching” Alexa a new skill:

1. Open the Alexa app
2. Go to “Skills & Games”
3. Search for the “Level Lock” skill
4. Find it and click “Enable.”

Don’t close the Alexa app yet.

Next, you must connect your Level Lock, and that is still done on the Alexa app:

1. Find “Devices”
2. Select your Level Lock
3. Follow all the prompts

That’s it! Now your Level Lock is ready to start receiving commands from Alexa.

Note: A few commands are automatically implemented, while others you must configure manually.

Step #4: Set Up The Commands 

Alexa already has preset voice commands for smart locks.

That means once you connect the Level Lock to Alexa, you can use the following prompts:

• “Alexa, lock the door.”
• “Alexa, unlock the door.”

If the door is jammed and unable to lock or unlock, Alexa will also tell you. That is great as it enables you to find troubleshoot tips quickly.

Moreover, you can ask Alexa what the door’s status is by saying, “Alexa, is the door locked?”. 

Create Codes Via Voice Commands

Suppose your Level Lock has an associated numeric pad. You can create codes depending on the access level Alexa has over the Level Lock.

1. Say, “Alexa, I want to create a code on the Level Lock.”
2. Then Alexa will ask you what numbers will be used

Manage Routines With Alexa

When the Level Lock is added to Alexa, you can create routines. Routines automate certain events.

2. Click on “Routines”

Delete Voice Commands From Alexa

Unfortunately, it is not possible to delete individual voice commands from Alexa.

Once it is set up with your Level Lock, all the standard voice commands will be available.

If you want to deactivate all voice commands, you must disassociate Alexa and Level Lock. 

1. Open the Alexa app
2. Go to “Skills & Games” 
3. Find the Level Lock skill
4. Click on the Level Lock skill 
5. Tap on “Disable Skill” 

Note: Even if you disable the Level Lock for Alexa voice commands, any codes you configured to work with an associated keypad will remain.
