Luckily there are a number of relatively simple solutions that you can do yourself.

In this article, we will provide detailed step by step instructions on how to fix a Shared Ring Account Not Working.

Whenever the Ring Shared account isn’t working, update the app with the latest software, force quit and restart the app. Logout out and login to the app, reset the Ring Doorbell Hardware and Re invite the Shared User.

Why Shared Ring Account Not Working?

If your Shared Ring account isn’t working you will need to troubleshoot the problem in the Software, App, or hardware.

If there is a problem in one of these components the shared Ring account won’t run smoothly.

There are a number of reasons why the Shared Ring Account won’t work, they are listed below:

#1. Problem with App

The app has stopped working due to a minor malfunction or out-of-date software and needs to be reset.

#2. Software Out of Date

The app software is out of date and is not running smoothly.

#3. Shared User Access Not Working

The Shared User cannot get access to share the Admin ring Account.

#4. Hardware problems with Ring Device

The Camera or the Ring Doorbell are not working on a shared account. This is a hardware issue that needs to be fixed on the device.

The above issues are common for Ring Accounts, therefore the fixes are easy to do yourself, we will explain the fixes below.

How to Fix Shared Ring Account not Working?

As with many devices you want to share the Account with other users. However, whenever the Shared account is not working it can be frustrating.

Fortunately, the fixes to the issues for a shared ring account above are relatively simple to do yourself.

Proceed with the following solutions to get your Shared account working again.

Solution #1 Force Close the App

If the app has frozen or is not loading properly, there is a simple workaround you can try to fix this.

First, you need to force close the app, to do so is relatively easy, however, it depends on the type of device you are using.

If you are using an Android:

1. Open Settings
2. Choose Apps, Apps systems or Manage Apps
3. Scroll through the app list until find the Ring App
4. Select Force Stop

If you are using an iPhone:

• Hold your finger on the bottom of the screen
• Swipe up and then right while holding your finger on the screen
• Swipe up to close the app

Once you have closed the app you simply need to open the app again and see if it is working again.

Note: You may need to re-enter the login details.

Solution #2 Sign Out of Ring Account

If the app is still not running smoothly a simple solution is to sign out and back into the account.

This troubleshooting should clear any issues that the Ring Account is having. 

Here’s are easy-to-follow step-by-step instructions on how to sign out of the app:

1. Open App
2. Press the three lines in the top left-hand corner
3. Choose Account
4. Scroll down to Sign Out
5. Click Sign Out

Once you have signed out, you will simply need to sign in which can be done by clicking sign in and entering the correct email and password.

Note: Take care when entering login information, if you forget your password this can easily be reset by clicking reset password and following the instructions. 

Solution #3 Update the App

If the app is out of date you may find the Shared User Account isn’t running smoothly.

Updating the Ring App to the most recent version is the best solution to get the app to run more smoothly. 

First, check the app store or play store (depending on your type of device) to see if there are any updates available.

If there is an available update, click on the update button to start the process.

You may need to free up some space on your device by deleting media to ensure there is space for the update.

Once you have updated the app you should force close and restart the app using solution #1.

Note: You can turn on automatic updates on your device to ensure the app is always up to date.

Provided you have completed the above fixes and the Shared Ring Account is not working the problem may be with the Ring Doorbell Hardware.

Solution #4 Hard Reset the Ring Doorbell

If you have completed the above fixes, the problem is likely to be with the Ring Doorbell hardware.

If the Ring Doorbell is not working on a shared account a hard reset will get it to run smoothly for all users.

To hard reset the Ring Doorbell, follow these steps.

• Check cables on Ring Doorbell are connected correctly
• Hold Orange Power Button for 15 seconds
• Wait until the ring device powers back up

Resetting the device should clear any issues you have with the Ring Doorbell Hardware.

Solution #5 Re-invite Shared User

If the Shared Ring User cannot connect to the admin account it is likely there was a problem with the invitation process.

Although it seems simple, a very common issue is that the email address was entered incorrectly.

You will need to re-invite the shared user by following these steps:

In the Ring App:

1. Open the menu.
2. Tap on Devices. Select the device you want to add as a Shared User.
3. Tap Shared User.
4. Enter the email address of the Shared User you want to add.
5. Tap Add User.
6. Tap Send Invite.

Once the invite has been sent the shared user will simply need to accept the invite and they will have shared access.

Note: The Shared User may need to check their junk or spam email folders if the email  hasn't shown up in their inbox.

Solution #6 Delete and Re-Invite the User to the App

Provided the above solution didn’t work and the Ring Access isn’t working, Deleting and Reinviting the User is the best solution.

First, you will need to delete the user from the admin account on the ring app, by following the detailed instructions below.

To Delete a User, follow these steps:

1. Open the menu, Ring app.
2. Tap on Settings
3. Tapon Users.
4. Tap on the User that you would like to delete.
5. Scroll to the bottom of the screen and find Remove User
6. Tap Remove

Once you have deleted the user you won’t be able to see them in the User menu.

You can simply add the user again by following the instructions that are listed in the above Solution #5.

Whenever the Shared Ring Account is not working, force quit and restart the app, update the app with the latest software. Next, Logout out and login to the app, reset the Ring Doorbell Hardware and Re invite the Shared User.
