How To Fix Kitchenaid Mixer Squeaking Noise?

Solution #1 Tighten The Planetary Screws

Most of the time, none of the Kitchenaid mixer’s components are faulty, but the major cause of this squeaking noise is loose screws.

Your mixer may be making a squeaky sound while rotating because the planetary housing screws are possibly loose or hitting the gear cover. 

Solution: All you have to do is to tighten the planetary housing screws properly.

Here is how to tighten planetary housing screws:

1. Unplug the Kitchenaid mixer from power.
2. Take a screw and place it on a planetary assembly pin.
3. Use something to bang on the screw to release the pin.
4. As the pin is released, take off its cover.
5. Then, tighten all the planetary screws properly.
6. Place the cover back and secure it with its pin.

When you’re ready, put your Kitchenaid mixer in action to test whether the squeaking noises are still there.

In case they are, perhaps there is something wrong with the carbon brushes!

Solution #2 Inspect The Carbon Brushes!

Over time the carbon brushes that are located at both sides of the mixer began to wear out.

If you are noticing that the squeaking noise is coming from the mixer bottom stopper, then surely the carbon brushes are worn out or realigned. 

Solution: Check the brushes to take further steps as replacement or realignment.

Here is how to check mixer carbon brushes:

1. Take a coin and place it on the cap.
2. Twist the coin counterclockwise until the cap comes out with the brush.
3. Carefully inspect the carbon brush condition.
4. Then, carefully place a new or previous carbon brush inside.
5. Then take a cap and screw it back to secure the component.
6. Repeat the same step on another side of the fixer and replace the brush.

When you’re ready, test whether the Kitchenaid mixer will still produce squeaking sounds!

Solution #3 Lubricate Mixer Gear

The continuous use of a mixer without lubricating it for longer can make the components dry.

There is a chance that due to dryness, your mixer gears teeth are grinding against each other and that’s why the Kitchenaid mixer making squeaking noise. 

Proper maintenance and lubrication not just prevent you from such annoying sounds, but also maintain the lifespan of your mixer. 

Here is how to lubricate the Kitchenaid mixer gears teeth:

1. Turn the mixer and unscrew it from the back to remove the back cover.
2. Next, unscrew the silver band by unscrewing it and place it aside.
3. Use a flathead screwdriver to undo the four screws from the inside.
4. Next, use a screwdriver and remove the mixer’s Silver Drip Ring.
5. Move the mixer head towards it to get access to the mixer’s lower area.
6. Take a screw and place it on a planetary assembly pin. 
7. Use any object to bang on the screw and be able to release the pin.
8. Unscrew the five next screws to get proper access to the Mixer Grease.
9. Take a knife and remove all the old grease from there.
10. To clean the gear assembly from old grease, unscrew it to get access. 
11. Then use a paper towel and knife to remove the grease from it.

Also, clean the grease from the other cover inside that you have separated from the assembly. 

Once cleaning is done, take a new grease and apply it on the gear and other components as well.

When you’re ready, follow the steps in reverse to reassemble the mixer components!

Solution #4 Inspect Speed Control

The speed control knob handles the mixer speed, and its speed goes slow when these knobs are worn out, or reordered.

If your mixer has a slow speed and also a squeaking sound is coming, then possibly the knobs have a fault and you need to inspect only after lubrication!

Here is how to inspect mixer speed control knobs:

1. After disassembling the mixer, you end up with two heads. 
2. Move on to that mixer head that is placed on the upper side.
3. You will see a control plate that is covered with a Control Spring. 
4. Simply remove the spring from the control board and attach it to the housing.
5. Next, use needle-nose pliers to remove the Speed Control Knob from the assembly.
6. Set up a new speed control knob if the previous one is faulty and screw them tightly.
7. Next, take needle-nose pliers and disconnect the spring from the housing! 
8. Connect the spring back to the control board.

When you’re ready, reassemble the components back in order. When you start using the Kitchenaid mixer now, the squeaking sound should no longer be there.

Solution #5 Adjust The Blade Head

Due to the most frequent movement of the mixer blade head, its position gets reordered.

There is a possibility that your mixer head is too down or up. Maybe that’s why when it gets in contact with the utensil or its place, it starts squeaking. 

Solution: You only need to adjust the blade head of your Kitchenaid mixer.

Here is how to adjust the mixer blade head:

1. Switch the speed control to OFF.
2. Unplug the mixer from the power outlet.
3. Tilt the motor head to the back.
4. Slip the beater head onto the beater shaft and push upward as possible.
5. Then turn the beater to the right, fixing the beater over the pin on the shaft.

Solution #6 Replace The Phase Board

It is common for appliances, motors, and control boards to get faulty because they are responsible for controlling power all over the machine.

There is a possibility that your Kitchenaid mixer phase board is defective.

That’s why it is unable to properly communicate and supply sufficient power to other parts and which’s why the squeaking noise is coming.

Here is how to replace the mixer phase board:

1. Remove the mixer end cover screws and pull them off.
2. Next, disconnect all of the wires from the Control Plate.
3. Then carefully remove the spring from the bottom of the control plate.
4. Hook up the spring onto the towel.
5. Next, lose the upper mounting screws of the control plate.
6. Use a screwdriver and unscrew the mounting screws from the housing. 
7. Pull out the control plate.
8. Next, unscrew the phase control board screw and pull it out.
9. Set up a new phase control board and fix it by screwing it.
10. Reassemble all mixer and end cover components back.
