There aren’t many guides that discuss the process of how to turn off Roku Ultra comprehensively.
And that’s why in this tutorial, we will be giving you the complete steps and methods of how you can switch it off thoroughly!
So, if you are clueless as to how you can switch your Roku Ultra off, this guide is perfect for you!
If you’re wondering how you can turn off or shut down your Roku Ultra, you can do it through settings. You can turn it off via Automatic Power Off or Immediate Power Off. You can also turn it off manually by unplugging it from its power.
Before going into the in-depth process of how it’s done, let us first try to unravel the truth on why you need to switch off your Roku Ultra device.
Roku players are known to be low-powered devices, which means it’s not necessary or required to turn or shut it off.
So, what could be the reasons why people look into the process of shutting it off?
- To save electricity on Fa small scale
- For the device to not overload or overheat
- To control the usage (i.e., when you have kids in the house)
Note that these are just part of the reasons why people want to learn how to switch off their Roku Ultra devices.
And now that we’re all aware of it, what steps do you need to take to power it off?
The method of how to switch off Roku Ultra does not involve pressing the power button, because the device does not have one.
Instead, you’ll have to turn it off manually through its interface.
To help you even further, we will be discussing some alternatives of how you can shut down or deactivate your Roku Ultra!
The process of turning off your Roku Ultra via system settings is actually easy and pretty straightforward.
The beauty in this is that almost all Roku devices can be turned off using this method!
Since the only way to access its settings is by using the remote, make sure that the remote has batteries.
It will be better if you take out a new fresh set of AAA batteries and insert them into the Roku Ultra’s remote control.
NOTE: If you don’t have the remote any longer, you can refer to the Roku app and use it as the remote control of your Roku Ultra.
It will function the same way and will have all the buttons you need.
After making sure that your remote control is working properly, use it to navigate to Settings.
You’ll usually find Settings by pressing [HOME] on your remote and by clicking Menu.
From there, you’ll gain access to the settings of your Roku Ultra player, and then navigate to…
Opening settings will give you multiple options – and in this list, locate Power.
It should be the far-right option out of all the different options available inside settings.
Then, from here, go to System Power Option and you will be given two (2) options in powering it off:
Choosing this power off option will give you a leeway of 30 seconds and the device will turn off by itself.
Once you click Automatic Power Off, it will ask you to confirm if you really want to shut or power the device off – you just have to click OK.
In 30 seconds, your Roku Ultra will turn off by itself.
The Power Off option, on the other end of the table, is the option that will allow you to turn or shut the Roku Ultra off immediately.
This action is the one preferred by most Roku users, especially those that are running out of time.
NOTE: The immediate shut down or power off option will force close all programs and applications that are open.
Meaning, all unsaved data will be erased and deleted.
Also known as the “hard power off” method, this method just involves unplugging the Roku Ultra player from its power or electrical connectivity.
You simply have to locate the power cord of the Roku Ultra and unplug it! It can be done by unplugging the connection from the wall outlet or from the back of the Roku Ultra itself.
If you have its power plugged into your TV via a USB port, turn your television off and unplug it from power.
The reserved energy could still be powering the Roku device off. Therefore, you must take the TV’s power out as well.
NOTE: Akin to the immediate power off option, forcing its shutdown or powering it off using this method will erase and remove all unsaved data/information.
And if you’re not satisfied with the two (2) methods presented above, the company itself, Roku, suggests using a power strip equipped with a power button in turning off or shutting down your Roku Ultra.
A power strip is like a surge protector or an extension cord that you want to use when the device you want to plug in will be far or out-of-range from the wall outlet.
To do this, follow these steps:
- Connect the power strip to a wall outlet.
- Position the strip near your TV (near your Roku).
- Plug the Roku into the power strip and turn the power button on.
- When you want it turned off, press the power button on the strip (extension).
The process is similar to Method #2, but instead of unplugging the cables, your action is simplified because you’ll only need to click the power button.
While the Roku Ultra has been designed to be powered on all the time, it does not necessarily mean that you have to leave it turned on 100% of the time.
You can choose to power it off by doing any of the methods we mentioned above, and you’ll be good to go!
