- Bad or No Internet – Amcrest cameras mainly depend on Upload. Speed lower than 1.5 or 2 Mbps can prevent the connection.
- Wrong Setup – You need to use the same WiFi for both devices involved in the setup.
- App Bugg – The Amcrest application could be bugging and impacting the connection.
- Corrupted Data – The application cache can prevent the camera from connecting.
- Host Device – The operation of your host device is also important. The host has to be connected to the same WiFi and have the AmcrestView Pro app installed.

Instead of inspecting your Amcrest camera first, you should start by checking whether your WiFi is online.
Sometimes the camera won’t be able to discover the WiFi, because it is not there and this is why the best first move involves your network router.
It's important to make sure that your WiFi is intact before you proceed.
Attempt to connect a different device to your WiFi and test the connection. You can also use an already connected device to verify that your network is not the problem here.
However, for issues with your network, you can use methods such as power cycle and factory restore.
Tip: Test connecting your smartphone to the WiFi at the location of your Amcrest camera.
When your network is out of the way, the solution might require a few extra steps.
To start the troubleshooting process, you’ll need to first re-add the camera to the AmcrestViewPro app.
Here is how to disconnect and then reconnect your camera:
- Open the AmcrestView Pro application.
- Tap on the Devices menu at the top-right corner.
- Choose your Amcrest camera device from the list.
- At the bottom of the page, select Delete Device.
- On the home screen of the app, select Devices Menu.
- Press on Add Device.
- Press on Search Device and select the Amcrest camera.
- Use P2P Setup and insert the name/password.
- Choose Live View to connect the device.
Alert: Your camera and smartphone need to be connected to the same WiFi.
On some Amcrest models, you would need to scan your camera’s barcode between step 7 and 8 to finalize the setup. The barcode is located on the bottom of the Amcrest camera.
Note: You may need to reconnect the camera back to the WiFi by pressing the “Set Up A New Camera On WiFi” and selecting the network.
There are two general ways that you can use to restart your Amcrest camera. None of them erases data from your device so it’s safe to proceed right away!
This method discharges the unit by unplugging the camera’s power cable for a short period of time.
You should wait for at least 3 minutes before reconnecting the camera to the power.
The manual restart involves logging in to the Amcrest setup control panel. You’ll need your smartphone or a desktop computer to log in so let’s learn how:
- Launch the Amcrest camera Web Interface.
- Press on Setup on the top right.
- Select System on the left.
- Choose Auto Maintain > Manual Reboot.
The restart is only going to reboot the device while maintaining your log-in credentials and settings. This option is not available in the application so you’ll need to camera localhost.
Tip: Use the IP of the camera to log in to the Amcrest Web User Interface.
Now that we’ve excluded most of the possibilities we can focus on the next suspect.
In this solution, you’ll need to uninstall > install the AmcrestView Pro application and reconnect your camera again.
To remove and install the AmcrestView Pro app, follow the steps below:
- On iPhones, hold the icon > Remove App.
- On Androids go to Settings > Storage > Apps > AmcrestView Pro > Remove App.
- Open the device application store (App Store or Google Play).
- Search for “AmcrestView Pro”.
- Download the application and sign in.
- Use Solution #2 to re-add your Amcrest camera to the app.
Note: Test whether the camera will now be able to discover and connect to the WiFi.
On some devices, even when you delete and install the AmcrestView Pro application, a cache remains on the device.
This is not harmful data and only carries user information such as login credentials, scripts, and images that make the app faster.
A corrupted cache sometimes causes connection issues so here is how to delete the data:
- Open the Settings and go to Storage.
- Enter the Apps tab.
- Locate and select the AmcrestView Pro app.
- Tap on App Info and choose Clear Cache.
- Go to the Settings.
- Scroll down to find ALL applications.
- Choose the AmcrestView Pro app.
- Tap on Clear History and Website Data.
You’ll need to sign in the next time you open the AmcrestView Pro app but once you’re in, you should be able to connect your camera to the WiFi during the setup process.
This is the last and most drastic solution to connectivity problems.
The factory restoration remains one of the most effective methods against any kind of issue so the connection problem should no longer be there once you are done.
The reset ultimately reverts the camera to factory state and deletes ALL data and device settings.
- Locate the Factory Reset button on the bottom of the camera.
- Press and hold the reset button for 60 seconds.
- When the LED blinks in green, the reset has started.
- Wait for about 2 minutes until the camera is reset.
After the reset, you’ll need to re-add the camera to the AmcrestView Pro app and connect to the WiFi by pressing “Set Up A New Camera On WiFi”.
Tip: Don’t forget to connect the camera to the same WiFi as your host device.
