Wondering why your Wyze Doorbell not connecting? It’s simple!
Wyze Smart Doorbells are famous among users because of their remote control support via the Wyze app.
However, sometimes we can’t connect the Wyze Doorbell to the WiFi, which removes the sweetest functionalities.
Let’s learn how to solve the problem!
The Wyze Doorbell connectivity problem appears due to many reasons, including weak bandwidth, wrong IP address allocation, and WiFi issues. Besides the connectivity, we also have the Wyze app, which could produce problems on its own.
Let’s move further to learn the most powerful ways to solve the problem!
How To Fix When Wyze Doorbell Not Connecting To WiFi?
If your Wyze doorbell is not connecting to WiFi, there may be an issue with the network configuration, device firmware, or Wyze server side.
Connectivity issues are a major part of every user’s experience, and thanks to the guide below, you won’t be one of them!
Let’s jump right in!
Solutions #1 Reboot Wyze Doorbell
Most Wyze Doorbells lose WiFi connection because of a device software glitch or constant restarts because of insufficient power supply.
This can be fixed easily by turning on and off the Wyze doorbell, which provides power circulation to restore functionality!
Here is how you can reboot your Wyze Doorbell in easy steps:
- Flip over the doorbell breaker.
- Turn OFF the doorbell.
- Wait for at least 30 seconds.
- Turn on the breaker and Wyze Doorbell.
While waiting for your Wyze Doorbell to discharge, you can reboot your network router to refresh the network and not lose any time.
This will guarantee that the WiFi will be fresh the next time you attempt to connect the Wyze Doorbell.
Tip: Waiting for longer while the Wyze Doorbell is disconnected is better!
Solution #2 Update The Wyze System!
Sometimes an Outdated Wyze App Version also prevents the Wyze Doorbells from establishing a connection with WiFi.
This happens because outdated apps lack support and the latest bug fixes on the software side. This is why we need to always be up to date!
Update Wyze App Firmware
Here is how to update the firmware of the Wyze application:
- Grab your mobile device (Wyze app host).
- For Android: Go to Play Store > Search Bar > Wyze.
- For iPhone: Go to App Store > Search Bar > Wyze.
- Click on the Update button.
- Reboot your mobile as the app completes its update process.
- Open the app and retry to connect the doorbell to WiFi.
You already use the updated app version if the update button is unavailable. In case you’re up to date, jump to the next solution.
Update Wyze Doorbell Firmware
Here is how you can update your Wyze doorbell firmware:
- Launch the Wyze app.
- Tap on Home > Wyze Video Doorbell.
- Click on Settings > Device Info > Firmware Version and check for Update.
- Tap on Update to start the process.
Tip: Update your mobile OS version by going to mobile Settings > System Update > Update.
Solution #3 Optimize Home Network/WiFi
In case your Wyze Doorbell refuses to connect to the WiFi even after attempting the solutions above, perhaps the issue is in your internet connection.
The best way to justify so is to take a secondary device and test your WiFi by connecting and surfing online.
When your internet connection/WiFi is slow, follow the steps below!
- Reboot your WiFi router/modem.
- Set up the router within 10 feet of the Wyze Doorbell.
- Disconnect ALL devices from the WiFi.
- Stop activating VPN app/browser extension.
- Test your internet speed online (need above 5Mbps).
Important: Switch To 2.4Ghz WiFi
It’s important to know that the Wyze Doorbell only works with a 2.4Ghz WiFi network.
In case you’re attempting to connect to the 5Ghz broadband of your router, the process won’t work.
Tip: When you’re ready, Forget WiFi Network from your mobile device and connect back!
Solution #4 Connect To WAP
Sometimes the Wyze Doorbell is not connected to WiFi because of the wrong IP allocation.
The WAP (Wireless Access point is responsible for acquiring your IP address from the router DHCP pool. When the pool is recycled, it releases the reallocated IP address.
All devices can get their updated IP address, but the Wyze Doorbell can’t because it keeps saving the original IP address. That’s why the doorbell won’t connect to WiFi.
Solution: Connect your Wyze Doorbell to a separate Wireless Access Point (WAP) with a different DHCP range. You can share a hotspot from your mobile device to achieve this!
Ask for help if you cannot set up another WAP connection!
Solution #5 Prioritize The Wyze Doorbell
Sometimes Wyze Doorbell won’t connect to the network because of weak network bandwidth or because many devices are already connected.
We can, however, prioritize the doorbell’s connection through the Google Home App, to always be connected and never left out.
Here is how to prioritize the Wyze Doorbell on your WiFi Network:
- Open Google Home mobile app.
- Click on WiFi.
- Click on Devices > Set Priority Devices.
- Select the Wyze Doorbell.
- Choose the Time Span for priority.
- Click on Save.
This will ensure that your Wyze Doorbell always stays connected unless your internet drops, which is another story.
In case even this doesn’t help, proceed with the next solution!
Solution #6 Factory Reset Wyze Doorbell
Sometimes factory reset will resolve every type of problem. This method will remove all the Wyze Doorbell saved settings and reinstall the latest OS.
The device will forget all WiFi connections and be fresh for being set up.
Here is how you can hard reset your Wyze Doorbell in easy steps:
- Plug your Wyze Doorbell into the power source.
- Press and hold the Reset button for at least 5 seconds.
- The Wyze Doorbell will automatically disconnect.
- Within a couple of minutes, the factory reset will complete.
- Set up your Doorbell to the app.
