Are you stuck with Wyze camera notifications not working? It is time to turn them back on!
The Wyze ecosystem includes cameras and other useful surveillance devices, but none of that matters when notifications are not working!
The cause can be multiple or simple, and only by investigating many settings will you find that out.
To enable Wyze camera notifications, activate permissions in your phone and Wyze app settings. Alternatively, reassign cameras, check for software updates, or hard reset the problematic camera.
Keep reading to learn how to manage all the tricky details of your Wyze camera settings!
Wyze Camera Notifications Not Working – 8 Solutions!
Solution #1: Verify The Camera’s Settings
Are your notifications not working for the Wyze camera? Then, perhaps the camera’s settings are adjusted to silence the notifications.
That could be standard on your app or a glitch you must undo.
In any case, the steps are very simple:
- Open the Wyze app.
- Tap on the device’s name.
- Tap the Settings gear icon.
- Navigate to “Notifications.”
- Ensure the “Send Notifications” toggle is switched to On.
- Review your notification settings for accuracy.
Now, wait a while and see if you start receiving notifications about your Wyze camera on the app.
Solution #2: Access The Phone’s Notification Settings
Perhaps you are still not receiving notifications from any of your Wyze cameras.
That happens because the notifications settings on your phone are set incorrectly. It can happen for all your apps or only the Wyze app.
In any situation, here is how to fix that:
On The Phone’s System
Let’s ensure that your phone’s settings allow the Wyze notifications:
- Open your Settings app.
- Tap on Notifications.
- Locate the Wyze app in your list.
- Ensure that “Allow Notifications” is toggled On.
Just note that Android and iOS might have slightly different menus and wording, but the location is the same.
On The Wyze App
Your Wyze app must also be configured to display notifications:
- Open the Wyze app.
- Locate the Notifications bell.
- If you see “zZ” on the bell, it indicates that push notifications have been disabled.
- Simply tap to re-enable push notifications.
From now on, you should be able to receive push notifications from your Wyze camera.
Solution #3: Check The Permissions
Are the Wyze outdoor camera notifications not working? Both iOS and Android have restrictions for a lot of different features.
It is possible to suspect your phone is not allowing Wyze to send the notifications when they should pop up.
Check below how to fix that.
Check App Permissions On Android
Here is how you will navigate on your Android phone:
- Open the Settings app on your device.
- Navigate to the “Apps” section.
- Locate and select the Wyze app.
- Tap on the “Permissions” option.
- You’ll find a list of permissions the app has granted or denied.
- To change a permission setting, simply tap on the specific permission.
- You’ll be presented with “Allow” or “Don’t allow.”
Allow all permissions such as notifications, network, sound, and anything related that is necessary for Wyze’s full functions.
Check App Permissions On iOS
iPhone owners need to follow these steps to ensure that the Wyze app can send notifications regarding the connected camera:
- Open the Settings app.
- Go to Privacy.
- Head to the “Notifications” setting.
- A list of apps will be displayed.
- Allow notifications to the Wyze app.
Tip: When checking the permissions, take a few seconds to review if all necessary permissions are active. If one of them is missing, you will face other issues, such as a lack of video feed or full network communication.
Solution #4: Clear The App Cache
Has the Wyze app suddenly stopped sending the notifications you want to see? One thing that triggers that sometimes is the cache data collected by the app.
The app cache is intended to help the app run better, but it can also backfire.
So it is time to clear those data:
- Open your Android phone’s settings.
- Locate the “Applications” tab.
- Click on the Wyze app.
- Tap on its “Storage.”
- Click on “Clear Cache.”
After that, restart the app and see if anything has changed.
Solution #5: Ensure The Camera Is Connected
Whenever you notice a long period of time without notifications coming from a certain Wyze camera, you must verify its status.
There is more than one way of doing that. Moreover, by “its status,” we refer both to its physical condition and the network connection.
Here is what you will do:
- Check the physical location where the camera is installed.
- Is it on? If not, turn it on.
- Now open the Wyze app.
- Locate the devices on the Wyze app.
- Check the icons related to the Wyze camera.
- There should be a cloud showing the offline/online status.
If the cloud has a streak over it, it means the camera is offline. To solve it, simply restart the camera and wait a while. Also, reopen the app and see if that changes.
Solution #6: Manage The Subscription Page
Very different from all other solutions proposed so far, this one reassigns the cameras correctly.
The issue could be a simple glitch that doesn’t recognize the correct assignment and forces you to reconfigure everything.
The solution has been found by some smart users online.
Here it goes:
- Access your account.
- Click on your subscription at the top.
- Unassign each camera linked to the subscription.
- Close the app and reopen it.
- Return to the subscription page.
- Reassign each camera to your desired subscription (Cam Plus, Cam Plus Pro, etc.).
After that, check if notifications show up as intended.
Don’t overlook other solutions in this guide, as their combination will make your camera’s notifications work as wished.
Solution #7: Update The Camera’s Firmware
The notifications could not be working because the camera’s firmware hadn’t been updated in a while.
You either have skipped an important update, or a network error prevented the device from obtaining it.
Thus, here are the steps to fix the error:
- Open the Wyze app.
- Tap Home.
- Go to your Wyze Cam Outdoor.
- Tap the Settings icon on the top right.
- Tap Device Info.
- Go to “Firmware Version.”
- Check if there is an Update button.
Is there an update button? Then click on it and wait for the update to download.
It should not take long, and afterward, the camera should work normally.
Tip: Restart your camera to connect to servers and automatically search for updates, potentially triggering an update and saving time and stress.
Solution #8: Reset The Camera
Once you have already tried all of the solutions above but nothing takes effect, it is time to consider a hard reset.
The hard reset will wipe all of the configurations related to the camera on your app and the camera’s firmware.
However, it will protect your microSD’s data, as you can see in the steps below.
- If you have a microSD card inserted, remove it.
- Plug the Wyze Cam into power.
- Press and hold the setup button on the bottom of the camera for 10 seconds.
For Wyze Cam v1 only: Press and hold it for 20 seconds.
What After?
The next steps are possible only when the camera has been fully reset:
- Wait at least 30 seconds for the unit to initiate.
- The LED status light on the device will change from Solid Yellow to Blinking Yellow (Wyze Cam v3 only: The light will turn red).
- The device is now ready to be set up again.
Alert: The camera could take up to 5 minutes to turn on completely. Yes, that sounds a bit too much, but it could happen after a hard reset.
Quick Recap
When the Wyze camera notifications are not working, you will need to thoroughly investigate all the settings related to them.
There are some in the Wyze app, but another part is on your phone! Also, there could be a glitch in the camera assigning or in the individual camera’s firmware.
