The reason why Wyze Base Station is not connecting to WiFi could be due to an Outdated App Version, old Wyze Station Firmware, or any software glitch. Sometimes Wyze Base Station won’t connect to the WiFi because of power insufficiency or an enabled VPN.

How To Fix When Wyze Base Station Not Connecting?
If your Wyze base station is not connecting to the WiFi, then probably it happened due to a poor network connection or faulty ethernet cable.
But before going towards the technical solution, let’s check some basic things first.
Make sure of the following aspects, before jumping into troubleshooting!
- The Ethernet cable has no fault or breakage from both ends.
- Ensure that your internet connection (WiFi) is intact.
- The Wyze Base Station power outlet is working fine.
Now that we paid attention to the most important factors, but the Wyze Base Station is still not connecting, we’re going to need a solution guide.

Solution #1 Connect Base To WiFi (Correctly)
The Wyze Base Station can be wired or wirelessly connected to the network.
When the Wyze base station not connecting to WiFi, follow the correct steps guide to reconnect the device!
Tip: Ethernet cable provides a more stable network connection on Wyze Base stations.
Here is how you can reconnect your base station to WiFi:
Connect to WiFi Via Ethernet Cable:
- Unplug the base station from the power source.
- Remove the Ethernet cable ends from the base station and router.
- Wait 20 seconds.
- Tightly connect the cable ends back to the devices.
- Plug the base station back into a power outlet.
- A solid blue light on the base will indicate that the network is established.
Connect to WiFi Via App:
- Open the Wyze app.
- Select your Base Station.
- Open Settings from the upper right corner.
- Tap on Device Info > Swtich Connection.
- Choose your WiFi and follow the on-screen instructions.
- Solid blue light shows up as the base connects to the WiFi.
In case your way of connection does not work switch to a wired or wireless connection respectively to test with.
Perhaps the problem is only on your WiFi so make sure to check!
Solution#2 Turn OFF VPN
Having your VPN turned on a mobile device that connects the WiFi to your Wyze Base Station will cause connectivity issues.
Also, many Wyze users have reported that they have resolved the issue by disabling the VPN.
Likewise, if you use the VPN on your mobile, uninstall it or switch to a different device.
The VPN can also be a browser extension, currently working, on a turned-on computer or laptop.
You can either disconnect the device from the router’s WiFi or uninstall the VPN.
Tip: When the VPN has been disabled, restart your device!
Solution #3 Upgrade Mobile Version!
Device incompatibility is one of the major reasons for all Wyze product problems.
Since the Wyze app or its latest updates do not work on outdated mobile versions you need to upgrade!
Outdated mobile devices might not even be able to host the Wyze application for WiFi connection.
This is why this solution is extremely important before proceeding further!
Tip: Only Apple iOS 14+ and Android 7+ versions are compatible with Wyze!
Here is how you can upgrade your mobile OS version:
- Go to your mobile Settings.
- Tap on System Update.
- Tap on the Update button.
- Restart your mobile and reconnect the base station to WiFi.
If there is no update button available, then your device is already upgraded or there are no further pending upgrades.
Simply go to Settings > About > Version and check whether your mobile OS is compatible with the Wyze criteria or not.
Tip: In case your Wyze Base Station still won’t connect, test on another device!
Solution #4 Hard Reset Wyze Station & Router
Sometimes devices need a fresh restart for their proper functionality.
Maybe there is something wrong with the router or the base station that stops them from establishing a connection via wire or wireless.
We need to hard reset both the Wyze Base Station and your Network Router.
Here is how you can reboot your router and base station:
- Unplug both devices from a power outlet.
- Remove the Ethernet cable from the router and base.
- Wait for 20 seconds.
- Connect the cable to the end of both devices.
- Plug devices back into the outlet.
Tip: Ensure that your WiFi network has a good bandwidth!
Solution #5 Update Wyze App
Most of the time, simply updating the app will resolve all connectivity problems with your Wyze devices.
In case you have not updated the Wyze app, then do so, to be up to date.
Go to Play Store or App Store and search for the Wyze app, and then tap on the Update button to start the updating process.
As the app updates, restart your mobile and try to reconnect your Wyze Station to the WiFi by following Solution #1.
Note: You can also start from scratch by reinstalling the Wyze app!
Solution #6 Upgrade Firmware (Camera + Base)
Outdated firmware, either of the outdoor camera or base station, may cause many issues if not updated within the time.
Updated firmware of devices will remove all the possible errors from the devices and make their working capability more reliable.
You can upgrade the Wyze Base Station firmware with only one click!
Here is how you can upgrade the Wyze Base Station Firmware:
- Open the Wyze App.
- Press on the Account tab from the bottom right corner.
- Select Firmware Upgrade.
- Select your Wyze Base Station.
- Choose Upgrade.
- Within a couple of minutes, devices will update to the latest firmware.
Reconnect the ethernet cable to the base station and you will see a solid blue light on the base station that will indicate the base station is connected to WiFi.
Problem is still there? Move to the next solution!
Solution #7 Reset The Wyze Base Station!
If you have tried all the above solutions but your Wyze Base Station will not connect to network, then we’ll need to perform a reset.
By doing this, your Wyze Base station will be freshly reset, allowing us to cleanly connect to WiFI and to other Wyze devices!
Simply hold the Sync button on the Wyze Base Station until the light turns yellow!
When the yellow light starts to flicker, follow the final step below!
Re-Add Wyze Base Station to Wyze App:
Keep in mind before going to delete the base station from the app, you must have to delete your Wyze outdoor camera device from the app to which the base station is connected.
After that, you will easily set up the camera and base into the app.
- Simply delete your Wyze Base Station from the Devices tab of the app!
Here is how you can again setup your Wyze Base Station to the app:
- In the Wyze App, go to Home.
- From there, select the “+” icon.
- Select Add Device.
- Choose your Wyze Base Station.
