How to Know When Pura Is Empty – All the Methods that Matter
We’ve looked everywhere for the most helpful methods to help you manage your Pura diffuser.
The good news is we’ve found the most surefire ways to know when to replace your oil vials and get your home smelling fresh again.
Signs of an Empty Pura: Notice the Fragrance in the Room
One of the simplest ways to know when your Pura smart diffuser is empty is to notice the fragrance in the room.
If the smell is weak or you can’t smell it anymore, your oil vials are empty or running low.
However, this method is not reliable, especially if you’re used to the fragrance, as you’re going to have a hard time noticing it.
To avoid this, we recommend you change scents every once in a while. Plus, your diffuser can handle up to two vials at the same time.
Here are the steps on how to smell for your Pura fragrance:
- Place your Pura diffuser in a central location in your room.
- Turn it on and wait for the scent to distribute.
- Start your Pura diffuser at the lowest intensity.
- Gradually increase it until you are able to smell the fragrance.
- If you can’t smell the scent even at full intensity, your oil vial is empty.
Note: If you suspect you’re used to the smell of the scent on your diffuser, go outside for 5 to 10 minutes and walk back into the room.
Inspect the Fragrance Vial
The next surefire method to know if your Pura is empty is by checking the fragrance vial.
You’ll be able to see how much oil is left and figure out if you need to replace it.
It’s an easy process, but it won’t be accurate and leave room for error.
- Unplug your diffuser from the power outlet to turn it off.
- Gently twist the vial counterclockwise to loosen it.
- Once it’s loose, pull it out of the diffuser.
- Hold the vial up to the light.
- If you see the bottom of the vial, it’s empty and needs replacing.
- If you see air bubbles, the oil level is low and needs replacing.
Tip: However, if you have a kitchen scale, weigh the entire diffuser or the vial to ensure there’s still oil.
Use the Pura App to Know Your Oil Levels
One of the most reliable ways to know if your Pura diffuser’s fragrance oil vials are empty is to look at the Pura app.
It will show your oil levels and notify you if they run low. The Pura app is compatible with iPhone and Android, so you won’t have to worry about compatibility.
To use the Pura app to know your oil levels, you need to follow these steps:
- Open the Pura app on your device.
- Tap on the Device icon at the bottom of the app.
- Select the name of your diffuser.
- Choose the Fragrance tab.
- The app will show the levels of the two vials on your device.
- You will see a message that says “Low Oil” or “Empty” if it needs replacing.
Pro Tip: Additionally, the app will also send a notification on your phone to alert you if the oil vial is low or empty.
If you’re not getting alerts or notifications on your phone, there’s another method you can follow that won’t rely on the app.
Use this Easy Conversion
There are instances when the Pura app will malfunction and won’t send you the correct notifications.
Whenever this happens, it might be days before you notice that your diffuser has no content left.
So, how do you know when the Pura scent is empty without the help of the app?
Pura has come up with a non-smart solution based on your average fragrance duration.
Here’s how to easily calculate your usage:
- Run your Pura at Medium Intensity.
- Run it for 8 hours a day.
- If this is your daily setting, one vial is estimated to last up to 2 weeks.
Note: If the app says High, it means you have around 101+ hours left on your vial, for Medium, it’s approximately 50 to 100 hours, and Low is below 50 hours.
Set a Calendar Notification on Your Phone
Now that you know how long your fragrance oil vial will last, you’ll be able to estimate when it will go empty.
As long as you keep your Pura running 8 hours a day at medium intensity, your vial should last around 14 days.
So, set a notification or alert every 12 days to give yourself some buffer to check the vial and replace it once you determine it’s running low or empty.
To set up a calendar notification on your phone, follow these steps:
On iPhone
- Open the Calendar app on your phone.
- Tap the + button in the top right corner.
- Create a new event and type Check Pura.
- Select Add Alert.
- Tap Done to create the notification.
On Android
- Launch the Calendar app on your phone.
- Tap the + button in the bottom right corner.
- Select Event.
- Type Check Pura and set the date to when you want to replace your Pura vial.
- Tap Add Notification.
- Select Save.
Note: After you get the notification and replace your Pura oil vial, you’ll need to edit the event and set the date after 12 days to keep it running.
Get a Pura Subscription to Automate Your Schedule
One of the most surefire methods to know if your Pura vials are empty is to get a subscription.
It allows you to automate your fragrance delivery and ensures you never run out of scents.
They do offer a lot of subscription plans from monthly, bi-monthly, or quarterly. You’ll also be able to customize your fragrance preferences so it changes up every delivery.
Your Pura diffuser can hold 2 oil vials, and if you remember, one of those lasts up to 14 days.
It will take about a month to use up your two vials. The best way to automate your deliveries is to get a monthly subscription.
