#1: Force Restart Your Blink Camera

1. Remove the battery cover from the back of your camera. 
2. Remove one of the batteries from the compartment. 
3. Wait for 10 seconds.
4. Reinsert the battery.
5. Replace the battery cover and ensure it’s secure.
6. Add your Blink camera and see if it works. 

Note: Ensure your Blink camera has a stable power supply or WiFi connection to increase the chances of a successful restart and reduce the risk of complications.

#2: Refresh Your Camera’s Connection to Your WiFi

If you still can’t add a camera to the Blink system, refresh your camera’s connection to your WiFi network.

It will help resolve any issues with your WiFi signal or settings. 

To do this, follow these steps:

1. Ensure your Blink camera is turned on and connected to a power source. 
2. Open the Blink app on your mobile device.
3. Tap on the Settings tab. 
4. Select Devices.
5. Tap on the name of the camera you want to reconnect.
6. Tap on Change WiFi.
7. Follow the instructions to reconnect the camera to your WiFi network. 

Note: Your mobile device should be connected to the same WiFi network as your Blink camera.

#3: Power Cycle Your WiFi Router

When you power cycle your WiFi router, you are essentially resetting it and refreshing its connection to your other devices.

Sometimes, this simple reboot fixes many network issues.

To power cycle your WiFi router, follow these steps:

1. Unplug your router from the power outlet.
2. Wait for at least 30 seconds.
3. Plug your router back into the power source.
4. Wait for it to boot up.
5. Check if the WiFi indicator light is on and stable.
6. Add your Blink camera and see if it works.

#4: Check Your Sync Module

The Sync Module is the device that links your Blink camera to your WiFi and the Blink server.

You will encounter problems with your camera’s connection if it is faulty or outdated. 

To check your sync module, follow these steps:

1. Ensure your Sync Module is turned on and connected to a power source. 
2. Download and install the Blink app on your mobile device. 
3. Open the Blink app and create an account.
4. Follow the instructions in the app to add the Sync Module to your account.  

Here are the detailed instructions to add the Sync Module to your account:

1. Ensure your Sync Module is turned on and connected to a power source.  
2. Check the LED status on your Sync Module. 
3. The Sync Module is connected to a power source if you see solid blue.
4. If it’s blinking red, ensure it’s plugged in properly. 
5. Tap on Add Device.
6. Select Sync Module.

Your Blink app will scan for the Sync Module. Once found, select it and follow the instructions below to connect it to your WiFi network. 

1. Your Sync Module will create a temporary WiFi network.
2. Connect your mobile device to that WiFi network. 
3. Enter your WiFi network name and password in the app.
4. Tap on the Connect button. 

Note: Once the Sync Module is connected to your WiFi network, it will be added to your Blink account. 

#5: Change Your Router’s Channel

The channel is the frequency band that your router uses to communicate with your devices.

If your router’s channel is crowded or interfered with by other networks or devices, it will affect your camera’s connection. 

To change your router’s channel, follow these steps:

1. Log in to your router’s web interface.
2. Find the WiFi settings section. 
3. Locate the Channel setting.
4. Select a different channel.
5. Save the changes.
6. Reconnect your Blink camera to the WiFi network.

Note: The channels typically available for WiFi networks are 1, 6, and 11. They are the least crowded and the best choices for most people. 

#6: Change Your Router’s Band to 2.4GHz Only

The band refers to the range of frequencies your router uses to communicate with your devices.

Most routers have two: 2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz. The 2.4 GHz is compatible with most devices and more stable, while 5 GHz is faster and less crowded.

Most Blink cameras only work with 2.4 GHz. If your router has both bands enabled, switching between them will cause connection issues with your device.

To change your router’s band to 2.4 GHz only, follow these steps:

1. Log in to your router’s web interface.
2. Find the WiFi settings section.
3. Locate the Band setting.
4. Select 2.4 GHz only.
5. Save the changes.

Note: The default login credentials for your router are usually printed on its back. If you changed them, enter the new username and password.     

#7: Adjust Your Blink Camera’s Video Quality Settings

The video quality settings determine how much data your Blink camera uses to stream and record videos.

If it’s high, it will exceed your WiFi network’s capacity and cause connection issues.

You need to lower it to match your network’s speed and stability.

5. Select Video Quality.

#8: Don’t Use a VPN While Setting Up Your Blink Camera

To remove a Blink camera:

1. Open the Blink app.
2. Tap on the Settings tab. 
3. Tap Devices.
4. Tap on the three dots next to the camera you want to remove.
5. Tap on Remove Device.
6. Tap Remove to confirm. 

To set up a Blink camera:

1. Ensure your Blink camera is turned on and connected to a power source.
2. Download and install the Blink app on your phone.
3. Open the Blink app and create an account.
4. Follow the instructions in the app to add a camera to your account. 
5. The app will scan for the camera. 
6. When found, select it.
7. Follow the instructions to connect it to your WiFi network. 

Note: The Blink app only supports 2.4 GHz WiFi networks.

1. Ensure your Blink camera is turned on and connected to the power source.
2. Ensure your mobile device is connected to your camera’s WiFi network.
3. Open the Blink app.
4. Tap on Settings.
