How to play Showbox on Chromecast? We will teach you three ways to do that!
Showbox is a very impressive site with its huge movie catalog. However, it lacks one excellent feature: Chromecast’s built-in integration.
Using Showbox and Chromecast is possible if you install the correct apps on your Chromebook or Android device.
On the other hand, you can also access the Showbox site on your computer and cast from Google Chrome’s built-in extension.
If you want to be able to cast from any device, check the guide below!
How To Play Showbox On Chromecast – All Methods
How to get Showbox to play on Chromecast? You can do that in two ways: from your PC using the Showbox site or your phone using the Showbox app.
But before that, you need to ensure you have everything set up on your TV.
How To Prepare Your TV
Step #1: Activate The Function
Before anything else, you need to ensure your TV has Chromecast Built-In.
If it doesn’t, you need a Chromecast dongle to transmit your device’s screen to the TV.
Do the following:
- Open the TV’s settings.
- Look for the Chromecast function.
- When you find it, ensure it is active.
If you don’t find it, you need a Chromecast dongle.
Step #2: Update Chromecast Built-In
If the Chromecast Built-In software is outdated, you might have difficulty casting.
Here is how you can update it quickly:
- Find the TV settings.
- Go to “All apps.”
- Click on “Show system apps.”
- Find “Chromecast Built-In.”
- Click on it and select “Uninstall.”
- Head to the Google Play Store.
- Look for “Chromecast Built-In.”
- Click on “Update” or “Install.”
Step #3: Verify Network Settings
You must ensure your TV is connected to a strong, reliable network when using the Chromecast function.
Moreover, the TV and phone/PC must be connected to the same network. If you use the PC, ensure the PC and TV are connected to a 5GHz network.
Cast From Your PC
Casting any content from your PC to the TV is very simple. Follow the steps below.
Step #1: Activate The Cast Extension
You must use the Google Chrome browser to cast anything from your PC to the TV.
Once you open it, do the following:
- Locate the top right corner.
- Click on Settings.
- Locate “Cast.“
- Click on the right button and choose “Always show.”
That way, the Cast functionality will always be enabled and easy to access.
Step #2: Check The Network
When preparing your TV, you connect it to a strong network.
Right now, you need to do the following:
- Navigate to your PC’s Wi-Fi settings.
- Check the network it is connected to.
- It must match the same network as your TV.
Step #3: Cast Showbox To TV
Now it is finally time to play Showbox on your TV.
Here is what you will do:
- Open the Showbox site on Google Chrome.
- Go to “More” in the top right corner.
- Click on “Cast.”
- Select the device you wish to cast to.
Cast From Your Android Device (Phone or Tablet)
We understand most people want to cast Showbox from their phones or tablets to the TV.
You would think it involves less hassle, but it is the opposite. You will need to install some additional apps to make the process work.
That is because the Showbox app doesn’t have built-in Chromecast compatibility.
Step #1: Allow Your Android To Install APKs
All of the next steps will involve installing APKs on your Android device.
That’s because the apps that make Showbox compatible with Chromecast are unavailable on the official PlayStore.
Moreover, not even the actual Showbox is available on the PlayStore.
- Open the device’s Settings.
- Scroll to the bottom.
- Tap on “Apps & Notifications.”
- Look for “Advanced.”
- Find “Apps From Unknown Sources” and allow it.
Now your phone can install Showbox and all the other apps.
Step #2: Install The Necessary Apps
You will need three apps: Showbox, Growbox, and AllCast. Growbox will act as an external player to Showbox.
It is necessary because it enhances the image quality since the Showbox transmits mobile movies, right?
AllCast, on the other hand, will bridge the gap between those two apps and the Chromecast functionality of your network.
- Download the APKs for Showbox and Growbox from reliable sites.
- Install Showbox and Growbox (your phone should allow it).
- Go to the PlayStore and look for AllCast.
- Install it on your phone.
Note: Once everything is done, you must ensure that the apps are working. Since Showbox is not an official app on the PlayStore, some bad versions of it could be around the web.
Step #3: Cast To Your TV
Once all the apps are installed and working, it is time to cast any movie to your TV:
- Open the Showbox app.
- Select the movie you want to watch.
- Choose all the preferred details about it (subtitles, resolution, etc.).
- Press “Watch Now.”
- When prompted, choose Growbox as the external player.
- Growbox will launch, then go to its Menu.
- Go to “Tools,” then “Cast.”
- Select AllCast.
When you do that, the phone will finally look for your TV. If all is set right, your TV will soon display the movie you have chosen to watch.
Cast From The Chromebook
The advantage of Chromebook is that it allows you to cast any app to the TV instead of casting only through Google Chrome.
The disadvantage is that you will need to install three apps to use Showbox.
Step #1: Install ARChon Runtime
Chrome OS can only run APKs if you first install ARChon Runtime.
Here is how you do it:
- Download ARChon Runtime (its official dev page is available on GitHub).
- Open Google Chrome.
- Go to “Menu” and “More Tools.”
- Then go to “Extensions” and enable the Developer Mode.
- Click on “Load Unpacked Extension” and select the folder where ARChon Runtime is.
Step #2: Get The Showbox APK
You can download the Showbox APK from anywhere on the web.
However, using it on the Chromebook requires you to install yet another tool: Twerk.
- Go to the Google Chrome Web Store.
- Locate Twerk and download it.
- Open the app.
- Locate the Showbox APK.
- Choose a name for the package and app (don’t include “.apk” as the extension).
- Click on the pink Android icon to unpack the Showbox app.
Step #3: Install Showbox
Now you will finally be able to install Showbox on your Chromebook.
Follow these steps:
- Launch Chromeo.
- Go to “Menu,” “More Tools,” and then “Extensions.”
- Click on “Load unpacked extensions.”
- Select the unpacked Showbox.
- Open it.
Step #4: Cast Showbox To Chromecast
Once the Showbox app is running on your Chromebook, you can cast it by doing these simple steps:
- Locate and click on the system clock (bottom right corner).
- Click “Cast” when the pop-up shows up.
- Select the Device to cast to.
- Select what you want to cast (your desktop screen).
- Confirm by clicking “Share.”
