Electrolux Washer Not Spinning – 8 Simple Solutions!
Follow these troubleshooting methods if your Electrolux washing machine is not spinning!
Try This First!
First, restart your Electrolux washer, since any recent power outages or other short circuits might have caused temporary spinning problems.
Unplug the washer from the outlet, wait for about 5 to 10 minutes, plug it back in, and then check to see if the washer spins.
1. Check For Laundry Load
If you put too many clothes in your Electrolux washing machine or too few clothes, then that is the cause of it not spinning.
Check inside the washer to make sure that the clothes are evenly distributed in the tub, and then check whether it spins.
Here is how to check for the washer laundry load:
- (Optional) Stop the running cycle of the machine.
- Unplug the washer from the electrical outlet.
- Open the washer door and evenly distribute the clothes.
- Remove any or add more to fill up the tube but not overfill.
- Tap on the Start/Pause button to run the cycle and check.

2. Unclog Washer Drainage Components!
Sometimes, if the Electrolux washer drainage components such as the filter, hose, and drain pump are blocked, then they will restrict the spinning phase of the unit.
You just need to unclog the aforementioned drainage components to restore the spinning of your washer.
Unclog The Washer Filter & Drain Pump:
- Turn off the Electrolux washer power.
- Open the washer machine pump cover.
- Disconnect the chute by moving it downwards.
- Disconnect the drain pump and lose the filter.
- Tip: Gently rotate the filter counterclockwise!
- Place the bowl under the filter to drain the water.
- Keep draining water under the water stops flowing.
- Rinse the machine’s filter under lukewarm water.
- Clean the filter holes by using a pencil or toothpick.
- Rinse the filter to clear it of debris and then tighten it.
When you’re ready, activate the washer pump by putting 2 liters of water in the detergent dispenser.
Then close the pump cover and turn on the power to perform a spinning test.
Unclog The Washer Drainage Hose:
- Disconnect the drain hose from the washer plumbing.
- Hold the hose and straighten it to clear any bents.
- Next, run warm water inside the hose to soften the debris.
- Then use a long soft bristled brush and clean the hose.
- Run water inside the hose to clear the dirt accumulation.
- Reconnect the drain hose to the plumbing and test.
Note: If you found any component damaged, fully kinked, or broken, replace it!
3. Balance The Washer Leveling
If the feet of the Electrolux washer are too tight, or loose, or something is placed under it, then it tends to vibrate more, which will affect the spinning process.
In this case, make sure you level and firmly position the washer feet on the floor.
Tip: You can use a vibration isolator undercoat for position beneath the Electrolux washer!
4. Deactivate the “Rinse Hold” Setting
If the rinse hold setting is activated on your washer, then that is why your unit is not spinning.
To fix the spinning issue, you simply have to deactivate the “rinse hold” function and choose the appropriate spin settings.
Here is how to check for rinse hold on the washer:
- Check for the Rinse Hold button on the washer panel.
- Check if the light is illuminated on the rinse hold.
- If yes, then tap on the Rinse Hold button to deactivate it.
- Tap on the Spin Speed button and adjust accordingly.
- Then, check if the Electrolux washer tub is spinning.

5. Fully Close the Washer’s Lid
It is crucial that the washer’s door lid is completely closed throughout the spinning cycle.
If there are too many clothes in the washer, the lid may not be able to close all the way and that’s why the Electrolux washer not spinning clothes dry.
Check your load to determine whether this is the case. Also, make sure that nothing else is obstructing or hangs between the lid.
If everything is in working order but the washer still doesn’t spin, then you need to check the lid latch to see if it is working.
6. Check The Washer Lid Latch
Check the lid latch next, because if it’s defective, the door won’t close all the way and the latch won’t start the washer’s spinning cycle.
To check the door latch, you’ll need a Multimeter in order to perform a continuity test. No worries, it’s very easy to do!
Here is how to check the Electrolux washer’s lid latch:
- Unplug the washer from the power source.
- Unscrew the top cover of the washer to acquire access.
- Tip: Use your washer manual to locate the lid switch.
- Locate the lid latch underside of the washer and clean it.
- Next, inspect the lid latch for any signs of wear and damage.
- Then open the lid and press on it using a screwdriver.
- Check if you hear any clicking sound coming from the switch.
- If yes, then the lid switch is working fine, and test for continuity.
- In case there is no sound and no continuity, replace the lid switch.
7. Check The Motor Coupler
The motor coupler of the Electrolux washer connects the motor with the transmission.
So, check the coupler because when it becomes faulty or worn, communication will be interrupted. This way the control board can’t get the spinning command and doesn’t initiate the process.
Here is how to check the washer motor coupler:
- Turn off the Electrolux washer power.
- Remove the top cover of the washer.
- Locate where is the motor coupler.
- Tip: Check between the motor and transmission.
- Next, inspect the motor coupler for cracks, or breaks.
- Then test the motor coupler using a Multimeter for continuity.
If the multimeter shows continuity and physically are fine, then it is in working condition. If the multimeter doesn’t show a reading, or the coupler is damaged, replace it.
You simply need to set up a new motor coupler between the motor and transmission and reassemble all components.
8. Inspect The Washer Drive Belt
In case the Electrolux washer won’t spin it’s important to check whether the drive belt of the machine is securely connected.
You only need to get access to the washer drive belt and check to see if it is loosely connected, worn out, or defective.
Here is how to inspect the washer drive belt:
- Check the Electrolux washer belt for wear, cracks, and damage.
- Next, press on the belt at the center to check the drive belt tension.
- If the belt tension seems loose or has more than 1/2 inch, adjust it.
- Check if the belt properly moves around the pulley while working.
- If the belt squeaks produces unusual noises or slips, adjust it again.
Still Here?
In case nothing so far helped and you’re still here you can also test the Control Board and inspect the transmission unit.
If you’re unaware of how to inspect those components it’s better to call a professional or contact Electrolux Customer Service to claim your warranty!
Quick Recap:
Whenever your Electrolux washer not spinning, check the washer load, then fully close the door and restart the appliance.
