Solution #1: Verify The Charging Components

Is your Nest doorbell battery not charging? The first obvious thing you must do is check the main charging components.

In that case, we are talking about the charger/transformer used by the Nest Doorbell.

Depending on the specific model of your Doorbell, it provides between 16 and 24 VAC. 

So do the following:

1. Try your Nest Doorbell with its charger/transformer on a different power outlet to check if the issue is merely the usual outlet.
2. Disassemble the doorbell to find the conductors of the transformer linked inside.
3. Ensure that the conductors are well installed inside the doorbell (make adjustments if you see that they are a bit lax).
4. If nothing happens, you must try using a different transformer with the same power specs.

Replacing the transformer is easy as you simply need to buy a new one.

If your device is still under warranty, remember you can ask Google for a replacement instead of spending your money.

Solution #2: Clean The Charging Port

• Check the live video feed from the doorbell. Visual indications of overheating include distorted or discolored video or if the video feed suddenly stops.

Solution #6: Verify Battery Efficiency (On The App)

When you have the Nest Doorbell with the battery and linked to the app, you must verify its battery efficiency and level.

That will help you understand what is happening. Perhaps the battery requires replacement, or even the replacement battery is still not doing its job. 

Here is how to check:

1. Launch the Google Home app.
2. Pick the Nest Doorbell from the roster of devices.
3. Click on “Settings” within the device’s settings menu.
4. In the “Device features” section, select “Battery.”

Battery levels will be displayed as Full, Medium, or Low. When the battery is low, it needs to be charged or replaced.

Solution #7: Update The Firmware

Use The Physical Button

Whenever the Doorbell is showing issues and is non-responsive to the app, you must use the physical button to reset it.

It will bring it to the factory default, making it available to reconfigure from scratch.

1. Check the Doorbell’s bottom.
2. There is a hole between the power cord and the camera’s neck.
3. Insert a paperclip there.
4. Press it and hold down.
5. Wait 10 seconds until the status light blinks four times, and you listen to a countdown chime.
6. After that, the status light will become solid yellow.
7. You should also hear a confirmation.

Then, proceed to the app and set the Doorbell again. Moreover, check if it is able to charge or if the issue persists.
