Wondering what to do when Nanoleaf Alexa not responding?
In most cases, this problem is either related to the internet connection of the devices or the settings configuration!
When Nanoleaf is not responding to Alexa commands, the first thing to inspect is whether the “Nanoleaf” skill is enabled and linked.
After that, it’s mandatory to verify that both of the devices are on the same WiFi and that their firmware versions are up to date!
Let’s learn more!
Why Is Nanoleaf Not Responding to Alexa?
Here are the top 7 reasons for Nanoleaf’s unresponsiveness:
- An issue with the “Nanoleaf” Alexa skill.
- Outdated Alexa application firmware.
- Improper WiFi/network connection.
- Bad configuration of Nanoleaf settings.
- Amazon Account & Skills conflicts.
- Power issues with Nanoleaf or Alexa.
- Corrupted Nanoleaf app data or cache.
Before We Start:
Try telling Alexa “turn on my Nanoleaf bulb or panel” to check whether the device is receiving power and is turned on.
This will help you understand more about what’s causing the issue!
9 Ways to Fix When Nanoleaf Alexa Not Responding?
Important: Follow the order of the steps below to achieve the solution faster!
1. Enable the Nanoleaf Alexa Skill
In order to control your Nanoleaf device through Alexa, you must enable the Nanoleaf skill for your Amazon account.
The Alexa “skills” are features that allow the Echo speakers added to your account, to connect with supported devices such as Nanoleaf.
Here’s how to enable the Nanoleaf skill for your Amazon account:
- Open the Amazon Alexa app on the mobile.
- Press the “More” icon at the bottom right.
- Navigate to the “Skills & Games” tab.
- Use the search field to type “Nanoleaf”.
- Press on “Link Nanoleaf Account”.
- Follow the remaining instructions.
Info: Enabling the skill requires linking the Nanoleaf profile with your Amazon account so you need to sign in to Nanoleaf as well.
2. Use the Same WiFi Frequency
In order for Nanoleaf to respond to commands from Alexa, both of the devices must be on the same 2.4 GHz WiFi network.
The Nanoleaf devices do not support the 5 GHz broadband of your router, so it’s important to connect both instances to the same router and the same frequency.
How to Check the WiFi of the Alexa Speaker?
- On your mobile, launch the Amazon Alexa app.
- Tap the “Devices” icon at the bottom-right corner.
- Select the Echo speaker you wish to check the WiFi.
- Tap on “Settings” and go to “Device Settings”.
- Then select “WiFi” and tap on “Change WiFi Network”.

- (Optional) Press “Connect to a New WiFi”.
Note: Typically, the WiFi SSIDs on both networks should contain “2.4” or “5” as orientation!
3. Power Cycle the Alexa Speaker!
Moving on, we’ll attempt a power cycle on your Alexa speaker.
If the device is dealing with temporal faults and cannot maintain the connection with the Nanoleaf appliance, it is likely that it will not respond to any commands from Alexa either.
Follow these simple instructions to power cycle your Alexa:
- Unplug the power cable of the Alexa speaker.
- Wait for 60 seconds, while the device is unplugged.
- Reattach the power cord back into power.
Tip: Use Direct Power!
Third-party power devices, such as strips and outlet connectors could cause power problems with your speaker.
Make sure that the Echo speaker is directly plugged into a wall outlet, to rule out any issues with the power.
Note: If possible, carry out a power extender from an outlet in another room, hence from a different fuse of the AC circuit.
4. Re-Link Nanoleaf and Alexa
Assuming the Nanoleaf appliance already exists in the “Devices” list of your Alexa, re-linking it should help with the problem.
Misconfiguring the profile of the Nanoleaf device could have an impact on how the device responds to Alexa commands entirely.
Here’s how to relink the Nanoleaf device from the Amazon app:
- Launch the Amazon App.
- Press the “More” icon.
- Go to “Skills & games”.
- Find the Nanoleaf skill.
